If I were still TBM with as much knowledge as I have, where would I be? As long as I was "in", I'd be accepted, but since I'm "out", suddenly I know very little. Because I no longer tear up when somebody tells me an Faith-Promoting Rumor about Jesus visiting the Jordan River Temple? Why because my heart no longer swoons when I think of raising my arm to the square and taking on the ever lasting covenants? I never quite understood what the purpose of dusting feet was. It seem more like petty revenge than a way to help people become better people. I mean honestly, what is the purpose? Is it to make people fear being extremely rude to us? Is it to make us feel better about being wronged? I mean, if it were about protecting others from being harmed, there might be something to it, but being made fun of hardly counts as life-threatening or deserving of an official curse.
