Not sure I can agree that is generally true. There comes a point where someone is babbling so much that they significantly degrade the signal-to-noise ratio of a thread, and at that point is is reasonable to indicate that is all they are doing.

There are other ways of letting someone know they've exceeded your personal noise-to-signal ratio than patronizing them with "I was teaching..." blah blah blah. A simple "We're not communicating well here" would suffice, and the head pat you just administered would not sink the person into a demeaning puddle.

You're obviously a very articulate person, with a great deal of knowledge and a great deal of education, none of which matters much here. She's not one of your students. Your professional status and expertise has little if any bearing on the discussions here. Daniel has a very similiar problem, in that he thinks we're all fools and idiots with miniscule comprehension skills and no life experience. You seem like a good chap. I do believe I mentioned that due to cicumstances my english was poor because I lived in my own bubble and if you knew me you would know that I am actually Scottish, thus the reason Chap assumed I studied at a Scottish university but infact I am studying at an English university.
