WTF. Do you not understand time and distance and calculation points? Smith gave that information in two places in the Book of Mormon with regards to calculating the distance of the narrow neck from Point A to Point B and from Point C to Point D.

Oh yes I do make an effort. I make quite an effort in conveying my thoughts in a logical and reasonable way. My writings are clear enough and I do try to keep a simple format with short sentences -- tight, concise, and without clutter.

I do believe he works in an office building pushing paper and checking numbers. He works in an ivory tower and sits on a computer all day doing God knows what. Whether he knows about how things work in the real world, I don't know. He's an office boy and sits in a chair all day.

I just do not understand it. He argues for a narrow neck of land in Delaware or some place like that. The post is just drunken rambling. I don't think Joseph Smith had any clue about geography there. I think the narrow neck of land is the Niagara Peninsula but my argument continues to be that the Book of Mormon does not necessarily (it could however and I haven't ruled that out) represent real world geography.

Drunken rambling my ass. It's over your head and outside your way of customary thinking. It uses creative thought and expression for entertainment purposes and seeing things from a different view and angle. It is not drunken rambling but a very calculated measure into Smith's mind and what he wrote. You are welcome to present your view in the thread and show me how I'm wrong. Or, you can ask questions in effort to try and better understand someone who comprehends some things on a higher level than you -- that someone would be me.

Like everything else in the Book of Mormon it is a smashing together of things Joseph had heard/read/seen throughout his life. Take a little from here, take a little from there, smash it together and see what sticks. That's why some of it matches some places, some matches others. Same with his writing. Some he stole directly from his Bible, some he stole from other stories he was exposed to. He was great at creatively combining various ideas from multiple sources to create new ideas. This is a consistent pattern throughout Joseph's life, from early childhood all the way to his death.
