And yet it is being applied to them in the real world.

I'm really interested in how you two would resolve the "box-checking" problem.
Every theory is being applied in the real world and none of them can handle edge cases consistently.

I suspect I’d handle a box checking problem the way I try to handle all problems: take into account the context and the specific problem that is being examined.
Maybe so. I do appreciate the discussion guys. I don't want to be too dogmatic on this, it didn't become any concern of mine really until last years riots. I think both sides are missing a lot since they've dug in so hard (Morley as a perfect example above  ). You've given me some good stuff to consider.

Ha! Because I said any prof would welcome discussion with you?

Missed that, that’s awesome. I might ask to sit in on a class at my local college some day.

From Res Ipsa's earlier post.

It's in your book.
I'm an admissions advisor. At Harvard. I need to make a list of which people are white, and which are minorities so I can allocate the limited resources. I'm trying to apply this Critical Race Theory to my admissions process. And I have been warned against admitting "box-fillers."

Where do I put Jewish people?
Sure you are. You're Atlantic Mike.

Part of the reason people seem so dug in is the result of a conscious effort to distort critical race theory in an effort to create yet another boogeyman. I see critical race theory, like I see all critical theory, as a tool. Different tools work better in different situations. One thing that is frustrating about any form of critical theory is that it can't generate a formula for how people should act in different situations. It's very useful for critique, but by its very nature cannot say "this is what you need to do to fix problem X." The best it can give you is "try something different and pay attention to what happens."

I've shared a lot of information, I think it speaks plainly for itself without my commentary.
You may get some pushback on that. I know I have when I have posted information that outlines or goes into depth on thoughts that I agree with. Could be that there might be other factors involved, however, that will shield/protect you from having to experience this not so uncommon phenomenon.

I watched the YouTube interview. I’ve observed the current legislative conversation going on with critical race theory and the possibility of this stuff coming to a school near you here in Utah. What matters, really, are the resolutions. And they’re good and praiseworthy. Anything that moves us in a direction of color blindness is a move in the right direction in my book.

Utah and Idaho are leaders in that respect.

MG

I’ve pushed back on you pretty hard on a lot of it. I definitely feel a little differently having been on the receiving end of it here.

I appreciate you remaining civil in the face of it, we should all take a step back when we get too heated.

That's crazy talk. You gotta look backwards to find your talking points. critical race theory doesn't ""reverse"' anything! Actually, it does just the opposite. critical race theory is a group of white people using past events, events we can do absolutely nothing about because they're in the past, and yoking POC around the neck with the past because it's easier to CONTROL a person if they FEEL like they're helpless without a SAVIOR. Again, critical race theory makes POC out to be victims and even worse, it makes white people out to be the ""Savior"".

White people that support critical race theory say, we're going to implement these policies so you can "Progress" and become more like us! White people thst support critical race theory say, we're going to implement these policies because you're unable to ",progress" on your own. White people that support critical race theory say, we're going to implement these policies because you, black people, need us to change so you, so you black people, can become better people. What I just explained is a SAVIOR mentality. People that feel the need to ""save"' others, often attach themselves to groups of people that they feel would benefit from their knowledge, setting up the group as the Savior's pet project. Basically, what I'm saying is, critical race theory has nothing to do with the ""colored"' people you're so desperately trying to ""save"". It has everything to do with satisfying your internal need to be a Savior. Sorry sir, but critical race theory sets up a toxic codendence that benefits no one.

Mormons got this one correct kishkumen!

Here's an American passionately explaining how some white people's savior complex can go to hell.

AM, you can’t think your way out of an open box. Or read. I am not supporting critical race theory or following “talking points.” I’ll leave that to people like you. I am following that part of the repentance process known as restitution. You are right, the Mormons do get things right. Thank you. I’ll take that compliment.
