Excommunication for blogging

A fellow blogger is about to have his court of love for blogging. Going to happen Sunday(12-17).
He first mentioned it
here and a
follow up post.
Looks like his wife informed the bishop, not knowing what it would lead to.
Some people with a pretended authority don't like what I write. Those same people with that pretended authority have scheduled a "Diciplinary Court" for me next Sunday. I'm debating at this time whether or not I should submit myself to this pretended authority and do as Vincenzo did, or whether I should just resign my membership before then. The result is the same since I will not burn the book! Excommunication or Resignation, that is the question. If I go to the Court and am not repentant, I will be ex'd. I wonder if anyone in that room will see the absurdity of it all and think twice about their pretended authority over me. If I could just save one of them it might be worth it.
Excommunicated for blogging, now I've heard everything.
I find this worrisome for people who use blogging as a way to express freely their ideas, without fear of the hammer of the church destroying them. I know of several blogs that have fallen by the wayside as they say what they have to, then go on with their life.
This may be the first blog based court

Well, I hope his wife is happy. I bet that marriage doesn't last much longer. I've always wondered if they'll send out a Mormon inquisition to read over our shoulders.
Perhaps the Church leadership is not as ignorant to the doctrinal problems that exist as FAIR mods tried to insinuate? Do you think they're scared of the internet? It will be interesting to see if this becomes a trend. For a long time you could believe pretty much anything you wanted as long as you didn't preach it. Perhaps they'll make some knowledge forbidden.
Everyday it seems more and more to me like the part in the Wizard of Oz, where the wizard says, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"

There is no completely free speech in the church, my friend. The only "free" speech is that which was prepared before the dawn of time, and indoctrinated into TBMs at an early age..."I know this church is true, I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, I know we have a living prophet...etc...etc...etc.".

Yeah, it really sucks. I feel partially responsible, as he has told me that my blog inspired him to start his. He's a lot angrier than I ever was, but I really don't understand his bishop. If they were really interested in trying to rescue a wayward soul, this is the wrong way to go about it.

Since when are disciplinary councils/Courts of Love
really about
rescuing wayward souls? From my experience, limited though it is, they are about power and control, humilitation and fear. And why would that surprise anyone? The whole concept of the priesthood is about nothing but power and control.

Yep, my impression from what he's said is that the bishop is pissed off and wants to punish him. No court of love, that.

I suppose similar excommunications have happened in the past. The internet is amazing though. It puts these things out there for the whole world to see. Before internet, how many people would have found out about this?

I dunno, once this s*** hits the fan at the Trib, I think the COB will contact the zealous bishop and tell him to knock it off.
The administration under Hinckley are all pussies. They will back down once the media is notified.

That's the real challenge for the church, isn't it? They can't control the flow of information anymore, so more than a few people have been doing research for a Gospel Doctrine lesson and ended up leaving the church.
