I think another example is Tom Murphy's accusations that the church was "stealing NA's heritage". That is a pretty serious thing in today's culture...and that is the point. Today's atrocity is going to be a reflection of today's culture. Being thrown off a temple spire just isn't going to cut it anymore. We need a little more subtlety....treading on people's rights is pretty serious today.
Okay. Nevermind that even Mauss states that these narratives have to be "outrageous." What a mess juliann is making. Is she really trying to claim that anyone who criticizes the Church's racist and sexist history is telling an "atrocity narrative"? Moreover, I guess Darron Smith's accusations of Church racism qualify him to be an apostate? The more this discussion goes on, the more I am beginning to think that LDS apostates, aside from truly extreme examples such as Ed Decker, do not exist---at least not according to the theories laid out by the scholars.
