Bettering yourself should be a means to an end, not an end of itself. I was raised to try my level best to leave the world a slightly better place than it was when I got here. Bettering myself is a means to accomplish that goal. And that to me is a failing of the relgious minded. They all to often get caught up in being a good person themselves that they forget to be good people to those around them. Showing up on sunday and mouthing the right words, obeying the rules weekly, and trying to drag people into church with you next sunday is NOT bettering the world around you.
Want to be a "better person"? Try volunteering your time and money to a worthy cause. Feeling patriotic? Go stand duty at the local Airport's USO office. Feeling like helping the poor? Serve the hungery at a local shelter. Feel like helping drug addicts? Get certified as an addiction councolor and try to offer them someone to talk to instead of their dealer.
But don't just hand your hard earned money to some suit wearing schmuck. Cut out the middle man and do the "Works" yourself. Do you think Jesus passed a plate around for tithings when he did the loaves and fishes stunt?

Decient single player, awesome multiplayer over Live. I've been GRAW since it came out. Best damned FPS title to hit the 360 up till GRAW2.
Black Moclips wrote: Rainbow Six Vegas is definitely a good buy.
Vegas is fun, but the Multi-player isn't nearly as fluid as it could me. The Rainbow Six Games remind me of a slower, less realistic, and less dynamic version of the Ghost Recon games. Rainbow Six is for people that want to "think" a good fight. Ghost Recon is for those that want to kick ass and take names. GWAR2 is the best FPS Tactical Sim since SWAT3 Gold on the PC.

I could write a novel on why the entire BF franchise sucks and why everyone that works for EA Games needs to die for ever spawning that game. Don't get me started. It isn't an FPS, it's pacman in 3D with guns.

It's BF1942, but instead of tommy guns and tanks you get plasma rifles and mecha-wank. Played it on my bud's LAN. Wasn't impressed with the single player (beat the campiagn in an evening in less than a 12 pack, if I can beat a game while slightly drunk, than it's to easy), and the multi-player was the same tired "let's hope in a tank/aircraft and randomly blow crap up" game play we got with BF1942, BF Vietnam, and BF2.

Black Moclips wrote:Well I left public accounting a few months ago to try internal audit at an international software company. I decided it was a big mistake but then last week I got a call from one of my previous clients and they offered me a CFO/Controller position at their real estate development company. So I start there is a couple of weeks. I can't complain. Life is good. (even for us closet doubters).
Congrats!
As for myself, I'm still in internal audit - waiting for the right CFO/Controller position to come around - who knows, maybe i'll be waiting for the next 20 years. But internal audit's not all that bad - WAY better than public!
Oh, and by the way, I'm not a 'closet doubter' any more...

Black Mo, thanks for your kind words. You said, into which i inject in bold:
I suggest you have received some good advice from Mr. Coffee. Sounds like he Graduated Top-of-class some time ago... About 'Gaming' i'm completely outside of that world. A no-nothing facsinated spectator (i watch my G-kids:-)of brain exercise that will lead humanity to heights never imagined in physical gyms or Football stadiums. (The latter an opiate equal to any that diverts resources...)
Could be from where your "thinking" grew?? Keep it growing. It will be good for for You, and the Universe! Warm regards, Roger
Roger - your comments were very interesting. I have always been "religious" in my life (participating in church, observing the rites and rituals within Mormonism), That IS Mormonism. but I have never been "spiritual" Contrary to LDS Boastings, "spirituality" is frowned upon in LDSism. It leads to spiritual independence--freedom--and not obedience to Priesthood Authority. (have a meaning relationship with someone or something divine.) I have always felt that my communication attempts were "one way" (hitting the ceiling and bouncing some other direction). But if such a thing exists as the divine and that something wants to have a relationship with me, by all means I am ready to listen. But such experiences have been absent during my life.
This does not mean You are deficient in any way... I don't have the right genes maybe. Could be: Nature/Nurture??? But as I think about what a kingdom of God should be, I think its made up of the basic ideas of love and charity, Which are part of the Nature/Nurturing process--they cannot be avoided! "becoming" something better than you are. How about being happy with who/what you are?? I've lost interest in rites, ordinances, and ceremonies, the outward symbols. Well you can. When satiation sets in, you have finished the course--get it!? It seems those things are just meant to bind (blind) people together as a group. Its the "inner" that matters. Absolutely! At least that's how I tend to look at it now. "Congrats!" You are wiser than you have ever been in your life!
