Shulem has the CARDS
Where the hell is Radio Free Mormon?

Multiply x2, because it's on the old English map as well, in two places of interest. Recall that Smith loved the family name, moreover especially, "Joseph". And, IF Smith was perusing about the Vernal Holley map:
WHY not peruse other maps in order to help determine a good spot for Lehi's landing site? And what better place than in a place named after "Smith"? Zoom into the map linked below and find the name "Smith" in two places of keen interest:
1. An island off the SE tip of the Delmarva peninsula
2. West coast of Delmarva's narrow neck

Re: Shulem has the CARDS
Your watchful eye caught that last quip. Well, it all started with young Joseph and the cons he played on his neighbors, friends and even his own family. Sleight of hand, props, and the power of suggestion constantly leaked out of his lying lips. Joseph was a magician and a habitual liar. Lying was a daily practice to feed his pious and sanctimonious delusions of self-righteousness.
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!
For those who have been following this thread and keeping up, know this, you are about to be treated with something very, very, special. NEW information in making the connection to Joseph Smith's Delmarva will prove startling.

Things are about to BLOW UP!
Maybe, just maybe, Dan Vogel and others will catch the vision. That would be nice.

Could Ethan Smith's use of this area as the arrival point in his View of the Hebrews have any influence either from the story or the shared name of Smith?

QUESTION: Did Joseph have his sights on "Smith's" isle for Lehi to make port at the promised land, the southern tip of Delmarva?

That's not far from the island where they still have vestiges of Early modern English in their speech, right? You're gonna make Carmack's head explode!
Neither modern nor Shakespearean, Smith Island's English is ...

Sep 24, 2018 — Legend has it Smith Islanders speak Elizabethan English. That's not quite true, but it's not entirely untrue either.
Re: Captain Kidd
Young Joseph was very interested in Captain Kidd and his voyages.

William R. Hine of Windsor, New York, heard from young Joseph that: wrote:He [Joseph] saw Captain Kidd sailing on the Susquehanna River during a freshet, and that he buried two pots of gold and silver. He claimed he saw writing cut on the rocks in an unknown language telling where Kidd buried it, and he translated it through his peepstone … [and then] dug for Kidd's money, on the west bank of the Susquehanna, half a mile from the river.

Ketchel E. Bell wrote:he knew Jo[seph] Smith when he was digging near the Susquehanna River for Capt. Kidd's Money. Jo[seph] had a peep-stone through which he claimed to see hidden or buried treasures.
