Your sucker punch, Kevin Graham (attention: Doc)

Post by _Jersey Girl »

You landed a sucker punch on Daniel Peterson when he was out of town because you don't have the spine to do it when he can respond immediately. You are indeed a low life. And here are the fruits of your cowardly labors:

Having just, a couple of hours ago, returned from southern California, I now learn that a critic of the Church who goes under the pseudonyms "Kevin Graham" and "dartagnan" (among others) has been busy stirring things up during the past few days and weeks and that he may now have succeeded in provoking somebody into filing a lawsuit against me. How charming.

It would be nice if certain folks could grasp the fact that these quarrels involve real people, with actual lives. I have, of course, slandered nobody. I merely shared, in conversation here, a small portion of what I had been told and what I sincerely believed to be true and relevant, that I had no reason to question. I did so in defense of a friend.

However, I learned very clearly, through my experience with the Rev. Kurt Van Gorden a few years ago, that the mere fact that a lawsuit may lack even the slightest trace of true merit will neither stop it from being filed nor prevent it from consuming hundreds of hours of a defendant's life. Oh, well done, Mr. "Graham."

Basta!

Shades,

Until you disallow the posting of emails and private messages on this board, what you've got here is a poisoned well. Daniel is exactly correct when he says that the words on these boards are generated by real people with real lives. You've got people here keeping dirt files on people and threatening to post. That's blackmail, Doc. You've got people here cavalierly posting unverifiable emails in order to stir up controversy, the outcome of which can never be realized on a board like this.

When you figure out the difference between Kevin Graham and Scratch, and the Z trolls and Mr. Itchy, would you be so kind as to let me know? Because I'm not seeing it.

I'm asking you outright and in full public view to disallow the posting of email and private message content on this board. The board rules here tell us not to do anything stupid. Does that include screwing with people's personal and professional lives?

In response to Tapir Boy:
People with real lives were possibly slandered by people with real lives. Stating obvious facts of the universe gets you nowhere. The individuals in question have proof for or against this and it is imperative that you take seriously what you have said in the past and frankly shut your mouth until your fat ass is in court.

To Jersey:
Shades is not responsible for what is posted here. It is the posters responsibility to limit what those involved here post. Your whiny-ass nature betrays your true conscience as its wrapped up in who knows what. For someone who was not involved at a fundamental level with moronism I find your motivation to be in question.

Is it just me, or does it feel like we're watching an episode of Jerry Springer? I can almost hear the crowds chanting, "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry".

Sometime I'm overcome by sick curiousity. Other times I feel a bit revulsed by the fact that real people are getting hurt. Why can't we all just battle it out with D&D characters, WoW characters, Halo characters, or something like that? It'd probably be as fun but a lot safer.

I don't have time right now, but I'll type up a detailed response later this evening.

Jgirl,

Again, you and your buddy Danny are taking all of this WAAAY to serious. Danny is defending the indefensible in a virtual world that really does not matter to anyone else except him and his few supporters.

Give the critical race theory, keyboard and mouse a vacation.

Funny you say that, as the characters and discussions that occur here are a lot like these games.

I guess someone never gave Dan or Jersey the Memo...

Reposted from more sorces than I cna convienently list...

Edited mildly for content so as not to awaken the Mods from their deathless slumber beneath the depths....

WELCOME TO THE INTERNET

No one here likes you.

We're going to offend, insult, abuse, and belittle the living hell out of you. And when you rail against us with "**** YOU YOU GEEK WIMP SKATER GOTH LOSER PUNK *** *****!1!!", we smile to ourselves. We laugh at you because you don't get it. Then we turn up the heat, hoping to draw more entertainment from your irrational fuming.

We will judge you, and we will find you unworthy. It is a trial by fire, and we won't even think about turning down the flames until you finally understand.

Some of you are smart enough to realize that, when you go online, it's like entering a foreign country ... and you know better than to ignorantly f*** with the locals. You take the time to listen and think before speaking. You learn, and by learning are gladly welcomed.

For some of you, it takes a while, then one day it all dawns on you - you get it, and are welcomed into the fold.

Some of you give up, and we breathe a sigh of relief - we didn't want you here anyway. And some of you just never get it. The offensively clueless have a special place in our hearts - as objects of ridicule. We don't like you, but we do love you.

You will get mad. You will tell us to go to hell, and call us "nerds" and "geeks". Don't bother ... we already know exactly what we are. And, much like the way hardcore rap has co-opted the word "nigger", turning an insult around on itself to become a semiserious badge of honor, so have we done.

"How dare you! I used to beat the crap out of punks like you in high school/college!" You may have owned the playing field because you were an athlete. You may have owned the student council because you were more popular. You may have owned the hallways and sidewalks because you were big and intimidating. Well, welcome to our world.

Things like athleticism, popularity, and physical prowess mean nothing here. We place no value on them ... or what car you drive, the size of your bank account, what you do for a living or where you went to school.

Allow us to introduce you to the concept of a "meritocracy" - the closest thing to a form of self-government we have. In The United Meritocratic nation-states of the Internet, those who can do, rule. Those who wish to rule, learn. Everyone else watches from the stands.

You may possess everything in the off-line world. We don't care. You come to the Internet penniless, lacking the only thing of real value here: knowledge.

"Who cares? The Internet isn't real anyway!" This attitude is universally unacceptable. The Internet is real. Real people live behind those handles and screen names. Real machines allow it to exist. It's real enough to change government policy, real enough to feed the world's hungry, and even, for some of us, real enough to earn us a paycheck. Using your own definition, how "real" is your job? Your stock portfolio? Your political party? What is the meaning of "real", anyway?

Do I sound arrogant? Sure ... to you. Because you probably don't get it yet.

If you insist on staying, then, at the very least, follow this advice:

1. No one, ESPECIALLY YOU, will make any law regarding an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
2. Use your brain before ever putting fingers to keys.
3. Do you want a picture of you getting anally raped by Bill Clinton while you're performing oral sex on a cow saved to hundreds of thousands of people's hard drives? No? Then don't put your ****ing picture on the Internet. We can, will, and probably already HAVE altered it in awful ways. Expect it to show up on an equally offensive website.
4. Realize that you are never, EVER going to get that, or any other, offensive web page taken down. Those of us who run those sites LIVE to piss off people like you. Those of us who don't run those sites sometimes visit them just to read the hatemail from fools like you.
5. Oh, you say you're going to a lawyer? Be prepared for us to giggle with girlish delight, and for your lawyer to laugh in your face after he explains current copyright and parody law.
6. The Web is not the Internet. Stop referring to it that way.
7. We have already received the e-mail you are about to forward to us. Shut up.
8. Don't reply to spam. You are not going to be "unsubscribed".
9. Don't ever use the term "cyberspace" (only William Gibson gets to say that, and even he hasn't really used it for two or three books now). Likewise, you prove yourself a marketing-hype victim if you ever use the term "surfing".
10. With one or two notable exceptions, chat rooms will not get you laid.
11. It's a hoax, not a virus warning.
12. The internet is made up of thousands of computers, all connected but owned by different people. Learn how to use *your* computer before attempting to connect it to someone else's.
13. The first person who offers to help you is really just trying to f*** with you for entertainment. So is the second. And the third. And me.
14. Never insult someone who's been active in any group longer than you have. You may as well paint a damn target on your back.
15. Never get comfortable and arrogant behind your supposed mask of anonymity. Don't be surprised when your name, address, and home phone number get thrown back in your smug face. Hell, some of us will snail-mail you a printed satellite photograph of your house to drive the point home. Realize that you are powerless if this happens ... it's all public information, and information is our stock and trade.
16. No one thinks you are as cool as you think you are.
17. You aren't going to win any argument that you start.
18. If you're on AOL, don't worry about anything I've said here. You're already a f***ing laughing stock, and there's no hope for you.
19. If you can't take a joke, immediately sell your computer to someone who can. RIGHT NOW.

Pissed off? It's the TRUTH, not these words, that hurts your feelings. Don't ever even pretend like I've gone and hurt them.

We don't like you. We don't want you here. We never will. Save us all the trouble and go away.

Hope that helps. If not, to bad.

Jerseygirl, take your personality disorder and shove it. Only an idiot would think I did anything wrong here.

I believed a rumor for years. It had always been tickling the back of my brain so I finally decided to scratch it. I finally decided to verify it. Ritner had never responded to my emails before, so I wasn’t expecting a response this time either. The title of my thread was a QUESTION. I have always been lef open for the answer based on the evidence. Ritner claims to have evidence verifying his claim that Gee and Peterson are wrong. Am I willing to listen? You bet your ass I am. When I see the evidence from both sides, then and only then will I make a decision who is telling the truth. But the fact is Gee has a history of dishonesty. Ritner has yet to lie about anything – not that I have seen anyway. I am sick and tired of drinking Gee’s Noni juice, even if his favorite customer is the great Dan Peterson.

To say my email to Ritner has something to do with Dan Peterson being “out of town” is just too idiotic to respond to. Dan is always out of flippin town. You think I keep up with his schedule? You think I know it? You think I care? Give us a break.

To say I have screwed with Dan’s personal life is again, idiotic. This is the guy who's work with the STMC has probably had a negative impact on MANY lives. The reason these guys make such a big deal about pseudonymns is that it drives them nuts knowing they cannot trace me and throw around their weight from Church head quarters. But Dan has used at least 5 pseudonymns that I can think of, and he used "Logic Chopper" the first time he spread this rumor. Cowardice anyone?

In any event, I seriously doubt Ritner is considering a lawsuit, but it would only have a negative impac on Gee and Peterson's lives if they are in fact guilty of slander. John Gee just the other day emailed the mods and they posted his letter which said he would consider filing a lawsuit against “critics” who call him incompetent. Are the lives of sued critics any less important than the lives of sued scholars?
