porn shop thread on ma&d

Post by _The Webelo »

i read on the other thread by barrel of monkeys where she sez that there was a porn shoppe thread on ma&d and so i went and checked it out. the name of that thread is Is This Acceptable Mormon Behavior and the op was serene1.

Is it now accepted behavior for church members to frequent sex shops?

I just read through a thread on another message board and the woman who started the discussion mentioned going to a lingerie/sex toy shop. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I read that.

If going to sex shops is the norm among members of the church, is there any wonder why there has been an increase in internet p*rn addiction? sad.gif

I guess I'm a total prude.

lol... pahoran sez no lds should ever go to a sex shop and heres what duncan says

I knew one couple who frequented such places and they are now split up and no it was not me.

I'm not sure I see how one woman mentioning it on another board makes it "the norm among members of the church." Among my church acquaintances, I don't think it to be the norm, as it never comes up in our conversations, but who knows what goes on they don't bring up blink.gif

On a lighter note, my brother is an FBI agent, who as part of his job went undercover for a short time to build a case against a child porn ring. This required him to enter some rather seedy establishments from time to time. He was also serving as a Bishop at the time, and was seen by one of the young women in his ward leaving one of those establishments. To her credit, she did not start any rumors, but followed scriptural form and went to talk to my brother directly about it. She was quite shaken, and it took quite a bit to reassure her, but he thinks he was finally successful.

Years ago a young missionary told my DH that once a woman is no longer able to bear children, the couple should no longer have sexual relations. What say ye about that? huh.gif

This may be steering off topic (maybe not), but the reason why I'm perplexed as to why it's okay to visit seedy sex shops (where a large portion of the profits of the store is generated from selling magazines and movies) is there are members of the church who refuse to go to Starbucks because its profits are generated from selling coffee and tea. Sex smut is good; coffee and tea are bad. Huh??? This logic escapes me.

lol....theres lots of good posts on that thread. morningstar buys here sex stuff from target:

You can get tasteful romantic things at places like Target without running into a situation where you feel like you want to burn your eyes out. I made the mistake once of going into Lover's Package. I thought it would be quite different, but there was porn near the front. They should call it Pervert's Package. Ew, and I won't even name the certain "toy" that there seemed to be a disturbing demand for based on the large number of them on their shelves. Yuck. I don't understand why anyone would use it. I could've gone my whole life without seeing that. bad.gif Maybe there are some decent stores out there, but I wouldn't recommend risking going into a bad one.

Thanks for that "wee below."

I haven't laughed so hard for a fortnight! The thing is running to six pages now!

Here are some of my favorite gems:

Be that as it may, such behavior can lead to experimentation with other activites. You may shake your head and say, "No way!" but I personally know members of the church who have gone on to swapping partners.

Not only will the sight of a dildo or vibrator apparently lead to "experimentation with activities," but it will also send you back in time to some kind of 70's "Three's Company"-esque marital hijinx!!

God made our bodies in a such a way that no devices should be needed

And if He'd meant men to fly....

This thread will probably be locked or gone very shortly, but I just wanted to chime in that I plan on being a total freak when I get married. Within acceptable limits, of course.

Because nothing is hotter than getting your freak on within acceptable limits...

I don't see any problem with Victoria's Secret or Frederick's of Hollywood. There are other places around that are, to me, clearly places where evil has taken hold, and I don't think it would be a good idea to go there.

This one killed me. Is there anything nastier or sleazier than Frederick's of Hollywood? I get the willies just thinking about it!

(ok, some cheating, those were from a 70's Frederick's catelog, but they fit nicely with the wife swapping theme of the earlier comment)

Personally, I think Victorias Secret is made from toxic New Jersey waste (I stole that from Sandra Bernhart), but if there is one place where evil has clearly taken hold, its in Morningstar's recommendation to shop for naughty nothings at Target.

Allow me to make some much, much, better suggestions:

These kinda threads always make me laugh.....they bring out the inner freaks in some posters....and confirm that some posters are so prudish it's a shame they weren't around a few hundred years ago so that they could burn people as witches for showing a little ankle....

I remember the first time I went into a "verboten" sex shop. I should write a story about it, it was so funny! Or, rather, my reaction to it was so funny. I didn't know what the heck most of the stuff in that store was! But I found out.

Can you imagine the front register making a storewide announcement asking for a price check on the personal vibrators, "with those little rubber pointy things"?

On the other hand, you could bring in a picture of BCSpace's avatar and ask what aisle you could find one of those those Swiss Armey Knifes with the french tickler extensions.

I was going to post a picture of a hand blender then I found myself cringing.

I say we have a contest. Everyone go to their nearest Target and we all come back and compare our "goods". Blixa declares the winner of the most inventive marital aid.
