Thursday morning complaint about the MAD board

Morningstar posted a thread about her frustration with the media and how she was openly fighting to make sure her 7 year old son is not being exposed to material that she deemed offensive. She spoke of magazines with words like sex and orgasm on the front of it. She spoke of required books of reading at the school. She spoke of movies.
I suggested she have him not read the Old Testament because the content would be inappropriate. My comment was deleted.
Deleted. Keep it on topic.
Now really. How much more ON topic could I have been?
The mods over there really do enjoy the bounties of a double standard, don't they?

I agree. That was completely on topic. It gets so frustrating.
But, I guess since the Old Testament says, "lay with her" rather than f****d her, it's ok?

I see this as more laziness (with a good dose of stupidity thrown in, of course) than double standard. They didn't like your comment so they referred to the big list of things a mod can say to justify a deletion and threw you the first one they saw. I mean clearly, that explanation doesn't make sense.
What's really funny about this is this is that the Old Testament is likely far more offensive than any magazine might be, given the relative contexts we're talking about. And people who are afraid their children are going to see the word "sex" or "orgasm" should be spade/neutered immediately. They're too stupid to raise kids.
But yeah, no more evidence is needed to understand that MAD is run by complete morons. It's painfully obvious.

That appears to be the case, Scottie. All I know is that I began reading the Old Testament with my children when they were very young, and I deliberately stopped not far into the book because there was just no safe way to explain to my children what was happening when I go to these verses in Genesis:
30And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
Yeah sure. This is family night reading at its finest.

Some Schmo...I am truly in love. The next time I rotate signature sayings, I will put this one in. I'm leaving Bob's quote for now. I think you'll agree it's rather choice. LOL
Trinity---Really...what did you expect?
This is, as Scratch succinctly put it, the aptly-named MAD board we're talking about! Remember Nehor's thread on categories of Mormons? It's amazing to me that so many Nazi Mormons could all be conglomerated in one area....they're all mods on the MAD board!

You just made me laugh out loud. My coworker asked me what was so funny.
I'm not going to comment on the MAD mods, but for MorningStar's post, I think you shut yourself off from a lot of beauty when you accept someone else's rather arbitrary standards of "decency." My wife for a long time refused to watch "Schindler's List" because of its R rating. When she finally saw it, she wept. A couple of years ago, she had to write a paper on the film "Philadelphia," which we both thought was beautifully done.
Not long ago, I watched "Y Tu Mama Tambien," which opens with an explicit sex scene and contains several that are just as explicit. But the sex is central to the plot and the point of the film. But, if I had insisted on the "R rated movies are against my religion" stance, I never would have seen what has become one of my favorite films (and not because of the sex).

Sure...that's what they all say. ;)
Just kidding.
My husband gets after me all the time because I have more R rated DVD's than probably any other kind.
Whenever one of the girls goes through my DVD case looking for a movie, his joke is, "Don't go through Mom's porn."

I'm guessing you're going to rent Y Tu Mama Tambien this weekend. ;-)

The faithful women of the Old Testament didn't have orgasms, duh. The female orgasm is a myth, perpetrated by anti-mormons and satan.

If you think about it, by the standard they are judging, "The Land Before Time 14" is a better film than "Unforgiven."
