Woooo... I'm so bad...
Woooo... I'm so bad...
So, my wife and I finally got to have a date this weekend. We even got free babysitting (woohoo!!!!). Sue and I first went bowling (on SUNDAY@#!#@!#@!) and then went to a restaurant and (gasp) I had TWO beers@##@!#@! Heaven help the fool.
Now, to my ex and non Mormon friends, this does not mean I am going to leave the church. This means that I wanted a beer or two tonight, and so I did, and as I read the Words of Wisdom, that is okay. Anyhow, hehehehe... I'm so bad (NOT!!!)

I think you have a point...
The WoW says to eat meat sparingly, in times of famine and in winter months... which now means, "ignore this part."
The WoW says no hot drinks... which now means something like, "drink whatever hot drinks you want except coffee, tea is now fine if it is caffeine free, but decaf coffee is still not acceptable, cold drinks with caffiene are fine."
I'm thinking the WoW can mean whatever one wants it to mean... like every other teaching/doctrine/practice/belief of the church... so long as you still believe you are good to go! :-)

Is this one of those "I understand your viewpoint, but I don't agree," thingies?
Not sure.

My reading of the WoW is that it cautioned against drinking hard liquor. Mild drinks made with barley is not a reference to Postum.

What do you plan to say when your bishop asks if you live the WoW, in your next TRI?

Yep. You're exactly right.
Of course, Nephi should leave the church anyway. LOL

I know there's some controversy on that point. Why does one side insist that this is what it refers to and what evidence is there that it isn't the case? If it's just your personal opinion, however, that's fine too. I know Joseph Smith and even John Taylor drank wine in Carthage Jail, and wine isn't even a mild drink made with barley. Furthermore, John Taylor said it was to lift their spirits which certainly doesn't sound like grape juice.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.
