One step away from banning

Without notice, I discovered that my posting privileges on MAD have been restricted. I'm guessing that's a sign that banning is next. It's kind of disappointing because I have been trying to be nice. But then I have had a lot of posts over there the last couple of days. Oh, well.

You guys are much nicer. One thing I learned over there this time is that there are some people who will take everything you say as an attack against the church. Maybe beastie is right that it's impossible to discuss these issues civilly with most people.

Is there no mod comment regarding restricting your posting privileges? It seems that they usually announce that sort of thing right in the threads. If it's impossible to discuss things civilly with most people...maybe you could be more selective in who you attempt to engage?

Speaking only for myself, I have had no problems posting there at all once I decided to intentionally ignore certain posters.

Works for me!

you should plan something good and go out with a bang - ask Pahoran if he teaches Polyandry in his seminary class.

Runtu, which thread did you participate in that irritated them?

No clue. *shrug*

I've known I've been on borrowed time since I went back. It was just a surprise that there was no warning. At least none that I noticed. I'll have to go back through my posts and see if I had a warning.

If they ban you for no reason, I don't think I will post there anymore.

Which would probably be good for me anyway.

Runtu, sweetheart...why should this be a surprise? This is the "Mods make up rules as they go along" board we're discussing. ;)

I think I got carried away with posting today. I just finished a big project and had nothing to do today. Maybe they thought I was clogging up their board.

Oh, come now. If posting a lot in one day were an offense, smac would have been kicked off long ago. Do you suppose he'd assume the mantle of Rhad and ban himself??

Are you limited by the number of posts you can make a day? And how would one find out about the limitation?

Since I doubt you have done anything that even the mods could twist to be offensive, it's likely that you're a victim of their desire to keep the number of critical posts at a low enough number so that believers feel the power of the majority. I do believe that is one of the deliberate decisions made by the MAD team. Many believers over there seem to be comforted by the sheer number of people who agree with their argument, even if their argument is patently silly. It's almost as if they're trying to make up in quantity where the quality lacks.

Of course, it also be that one moderator in particular dislikes you.

The way they have constructed moderating over there, it's never really possible to know. And what's interesting about that is that a poster like you can stop posting as much or at all, and other posters will never know why. They'll just think you got busy or lost interest. They have no idea how many critics have been restricted or banned without the slightest justification.
