DCP Claims that "Witnesses" Helped Rescue a Norwegian's Testimony

I wonder why this fan didn’t email the director? If I wanted to thank someone for making a film, I would contact and thank the director. Who contacts the co-producer of a film?

Norwegians, definitely Norwegians. They always contact the third or fourth most important in productions, announce their nationality and bear tribute to said films, documents, etc.

This is starting to sound like the Midgley stalking case where Midgley's version just didn't add up. However, my friend Ivan from Russia (maybe real or maybe imagined) loved the movie and might want to convert. Here is what he wanted to say to DCP or at least might have said:

Dear most eminent Mr. Peterson:

I write you because you most eminent producer of film. I no write director. I from Russia and question Joseph Smith. Why he say there are plates when no one see them? Why most all witnesses have relation with Joseph Smith or David Whitmer? No evidence for Book of Mormon. Looks how you say ... fishy. Then I see theatrical film in Utah. It nice theatrical film. It make me think of mother Russia and long winter there. Witness not change even though leave Smith. It like great Russian people when leave Stalin but still love mother Russia. I want go american church.

Not a fan of Peterson, but I am quite sure the email was written by a Norwegian. It feels authentically Norwegian, as to how they write in English. Whether that Norwegian was lying I don't know.

What is it about the supposed email that makes you "quite sure" the writer was Norwegian?

(Norwegians tend to identify their nationality to Americans. I have no idea why, but they don't do so to other Europeans.)

I just want to let you know that you played a huge part in my testimony if that's what you would call it?

(this really stands out for me, as it's a common idiom for Norwegians to us if they are being excessively polite. Also the question mark is used to be polite)

I was really going through it lately questioning the whole Joseph Smith thing and listening to you on the all-in podcast completely changed my life which made me in turn go see your movie today and it was awesome.

(I admit this section does not sound like a Norwegian. Note the use of all-in and awesome. These are terms largely alien to Norwegian)

I would love to sit down and talk to you for hours about it but I know that will never happen but I just want to let you know what an impact you made on my life today. I wish you well and thank you for what you do.

DCP speaks German, a language in the same family as Norwegian. I wonder if a German writing english would sound the same? How hard is it to fake a Norwegian writing english? And why exactly did the guy have to announce his nationality? Who does that?

No, a German writing style is different. Closer to English than Norwegian. Norwegians do announce their nationality to Americans all the time. So do Americans, by the way.

When was the last time DCP visited Norway? Pretty scenic place. N_N, do you think there is a chance that you could find this person who emailed DCP?

Wouldn't an Interpreter show in Norway with a person reconverted by "Witnesses" be a total blast and not to mention, a huge win for Mopologetics?

I could probably figure out who might have sent this, but why?

There is no way any kind of apologetic presentation would go well anywhere in Scandinavia. Preaching, sure. Exhorting, sure. Pseudo science or bad answers? No way. We are far too cynical for that.

What is the culture like in Norway for watching pirated movies? Seems to me outside of the US, people's main concern in life isn't going to be to respect American copyrights, especially when it comes to the wealth of Hollywood. Everybody Wang Chung has a great point that unless he saw it pirated, there is almost no way he saw it. Maybe he saw it while in the states, but seems like he would have mentioned being here in that email?

I'm at a loss as to where to see the movie. Maybe in Oslo? Nowhere near me. As to respecting copyright, nah. Same as every where I guess. We only respect skiing.
