And the world can do nothing about it. Its absolutely gut wrenching what is going on, the Junta slaughtering many. How much? We don't know because we can't get a camera in there besides what is trickling out on a depressed, firewalled network. All hell is breaking loose to crush a grass roots Democracy movement. if anyone says an all powerful leadership is benevolent when given absolute power, look to that sick display of inhumanity going on right now in Burma.

Yeah it's horrible in Burma/Myanmar. Where's the US army support when an actual grassroots democratic movement happens? Oh yeah...Iraq...W...oil...hearts and minds.

Are you blaming the US Army for something? I'd like clarification on this.

No. I'm just saying that if we weren't bogged down in Iraq this would be a good time to give a hand to some people trying to overthrow a military dictatorship and create a democracy.

But we MUST remember the Powell Doctrine.

In case anyone needs a refresher the Powell Doctrine was cited numerous times by critics (those on the right of the political ideological scale) of Bill Clinton and any of his military endeavors. Here's the questions posed:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powell_Doctrine
The questions posed by the Powell Doctrine, which should be answered affirmatively before military action, are:
Is a vital national security interest threatened?
Do we have a clear attainable objective?
Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
Have all other non-violent policy means been fully exhausted?
Is there a plausible exit strategy to avoid endless entanglement?
Have the consequences of our action been fully considered?
Is the action supported by the American people?
Do we have genuine broad international support?

If they had some oil or something we need, then perhaps we'd head on over.
The history of the world if filled with this and will continue to be.
