Allen Wyatt a.k.a. More Good Foundation Barfs Up Another Site
http://www.recoverytomormonism.org/
This is more of Allen Wyatt's Internet Mormon Spam. By using the the following words in his header, "Recovery to Mormonism... or perhaps recovery from recovery from Mormonism or recovery from anti or ex-Mormonism, or simply recovery from problems and frustrations...this site is for you!" he is hoping to grab more search site hits on "Recovery + Mormonism".
Fortunately, it doesn't take half a brain to realize his site is nothing more than propaganda.

Thanks Infymus.
I just read about this website on the Other Site and looked through it's treatment of "history," that foul bane that bedevils Mormons everywhere...
There were some new-to-me spins on the Mountain Meadows Massacre as well as the usual truncated re-telling of the saga, which now includes the story of it's history (as well it should, and apparently now can't be avoided by "the church.")
Not only do we have a repetition of some of the oldest, most dismissed slanders against the victims of the massacre, a new twist is added: dual violent bragging. Seems the "Missouri Wildcats" [who, even mildly conservative historian Gene Sessions DOUBTS EVEN EXISTED] bragged that they killed Joseph Smith, while the rest of the Arkansan group [of mostly women and children] bragged that they had killed Parley P. Pratt.
I don't think I've ever see a division by state of origin for this bit of unsupported nonsense.
Of course if you're going to repeat all the slander you should be thorough and also recount the entire catelog of character smears agains the emigrants including John D. Lee's narrative of violent and swearing children who lacked "innocent blood," and Dame's claim that he examined the bodies of the dead and found the women to be prostitutes riddled with pox.
The whole original "cover story" is dragged out: the emigrants were bragging about killing "prophets," bragging about well poisoning [actually this is a new addition in MMM apologetics: usually its some stalwart pioneer who spreads the word that the evil emigrants have been poisoning wells, killing both Indians and Mormon children---NOT THE EMIGRANTS THEMSELVES CLAIMING THIS], vowing to return with the Federal Army to wipe out all of Utah, blah blah blah...
This then is given the current spin: well, maybe they didn't say/do this. Its impossible to tell. These could have just been rumors, too, or things made up after the fact. Can't sort fact from fiction at this point. And anyway, even if they did say/do these things, it doesn't excuse LOCAL LEADERS from killing them. But the main reason those LOCAL LEADERS killed them was because they thought they had said/done bad things.
I wonder if this bit of sleight of hand reflects the content of the still forthcoming Turley "final history?" First, there's the acknowledgment that maybe these stories were untrue, or nonexisting, then we hear that these things which may have not even existed are what caused The Tragedy Committed By LOCAL LEADERS.
And it gets better...
Haight is now the Number One Bad Guy replacing former Scapegoat Lee. Haight is the one who goes against other LOCAL LEADERS who tell their people to leave the party alone [who were these other LOCAL LEADERS?] and who persuades Lee to join his nefarious plot. Laban Morrill is also assuming Hugely Heroic Proportions in this re-telling [of course, as I've argued here there are even better Real Actual Local Heros that the Mormons could claim if they only read/knew their history...]
blah blah blah...everybody gets massacred.
And that was that. It faded away. Bad thing, but over. Oh and B.H. Roberts and Juanita Brooks quietly wrote about it. [No mention of the near excommunication and shunning of Brooks and Roberts' fear of ever publishing his worries about the church.]
And wonderful President Hinckley even created a monument there! [no mention of the history of previous memorials and monuments every one of which had been either destroyed (the original one famously by Brigham Young---an event recounted by "quiet" historian Juanita Brooks) or resisted (the 1932 monument) AND no mention of those pesky bones returning to give the lie to previous official accounts].
But BECAUSE OF THE INTERNET anti-mormons have learned about the event and Will Bagley wrote a stinky book about it and now everybody knows these mean stories about us Mormons! Waaaaa!!!!
PS. Blood Atonement, which probably didn't even exist, had nothing to do with any of this.
The End

Very true, Blixa. Allen's "Recovery To Mormonism" site has nothing to do with the purported name of said site. It is basically a copy of all his other sites. It is a total propaganda page with the latest FAIR/FARMS crap thrown in and has nothing to do with recovery.
I know of nearly a thousand sites registered by Allen "The Snake" Wyatt. He will do anything to get people to see his version of Mormonism, and nothing else. Don't look at the man behind the curtain.

So, is that a sheep that's been beaten over the head with facts?

This kind of stuff is just plain embarrassing.
But it is funny too because Allen and the FAIR crew actually believe that by redirecting people to FAIR type websites, that they are actually saving souls.
As has been established so many times before, that lot has done nothing positive for the Church except to draw more attention to what "anti-Mormonism" really says.
