Could it be? A Mormon in the..Whitehouse...hmmm.

What of this possibility? What would happen to the nation and more importantly what of it impacting the nation?

Values. well, "american" values as long as you live in the Wasatch front are defined by a con man looking at rocks in his hat. Absolutely silly.

Mainstream America will become disillusioned quickly by the Mormon facade. Extra scrutiny will be paid to federal land deals emanating from Utah. Water rights, real estate, government contracts and business deals that are federally regulated will also be under scrutiny. Current ownership being what it is, pre-2008 election, all changes post EMA (Electoral Mormon orgazm) will have the same effect the quakers got during Richard Nixons era:

Silly I guess, but this reminds me of Robot chicken spoofing Admiral Ackbar now (your tongues can't repel flavor of THAT magnitude)

A cheap shot? Maybe. hehe

So...romney leading in the polls...Who in Utah is sweating the extra government oversight into their metaphorical underwear drawers?

I hope Romney gets vice-president or secretary of state....president would be cool. I think he is going to take the lead at the very beginning when states start their votes, but not in the long run. But who knows.

Historically (recently) this has not happened, leaving the opposing candidate to public isolation and mourning.

My guess is life will go on pretty much the same no matter who is president. My guess is Romney would be pretty good if you like what republicans stand for. I rather doubt it will have any impact on things LDS and visa versa.

gore ran against clinton in the beginning as they were debating each other for the nomination. I don't know if mondale went against carter. george bush (88) went for the nomination against reagan in 1980 but joined to go against carter.

edit in: I forgot about Johnson and Kennedy going against each other in 60 but joined to go against nixon. Ike is before my birth so I will stop there ;)

What I don't understand is why the Democrats are mistaking intelligence and being well spoken with winability, by backing Hillary. The electorate is willing to elect a numbskull, like you know who. Hillary is way too vulnerable to the Republican PR machine.

Edwards would be a sure winner for the Democrats. What gives?

---------------

I wish I felt Mitt wouldn't say just about anything for votes. Of course, I also wish he didn't represent a retread of failing policies as well.

Edwards has the problem that he's such a fake that even Kerry noticed it. (if we believe the recent book by Bob Shrum) I love the angle of the populist who just built a 28,000 square foot house for himself. And charging $50K+ to make speeches on poverty is just outstanding. And his setting up a dummy corporation in 1995 to avoid paying $290K in Medicare taxes shows that there really are two Americas.

My point is that repubs will not be integrated into a democrat white house.

The republicans will not win in 08. Be prepared for another Carter administration.

I just hope that each party holds at least one of the Houses or the Presidency. Makes is difficult for Washington to get anything done. The less they do, the happier I am.

Why Carter in particular?
