Why didn't God just give Nephi and Joseph Smith a Laptop

A Laptop, a hundred gig dvd burner, a cam corder and a bunch of USB thingys passed down and then delivered to Joseph Smith would be a miracle. Joseph could likely have said "Oh Crap, what's the password? Why do these things happen?"

Maybe a more modern Joseph would have looked into the box and found all that listed above and an uzi, a small portable 900 gig usb drive , and some rayban wafarers.

More along this point, Why didn't Nephi appear to Joseph Smith while he was standing around the chief editors of major newspapers, govt officials, etc. Why Joseph smith instead of credible individuals? Because it never happened.

But, I guess God likes to screw with us and creates situations wherein doubt is the only logical outcome.

I'm pretty sure my Raybans were a gift from god. I found them on the sidewalk in front of my apartment. Obviously, they were left there for me by some supernatural force or being...

No uzi, though. Damn.

You dummy, look at my sig. God is a jackass, that's why. Remember, God cannot possibly allow us to have evidence that something is true, because then we would be unable to exercise "faith", and there's something about exercising faith that's just so much cosmically better than acting on knowledge or evidence.

Are you kidding? Joseph would have used his laptop to surf porn. Nephi would have built his boat using Microsoft Boatbuilder, and it would've sunk halfway across the ocean.

Yeah, he allows you to have doubt so you can make a choice.

In addition if God proved he existed everyone would join the LDS Church. Most who joined out of fear or simple logic will not do their Home Teaching. Then the Home Teaching lists get too long. God in his infinite wisdom has spared us this.

God didn't give them laptops because he wanted to spare them the pain of having to call a tech support agent in India.

There's a big difference between allowing us to doubt and making sure that the "true church" looks exactly like a bad hoax.

I've seen compelling evidence either way, personally.
