Why did you quit posting on MADD & RFM

I see some familiar prominent names who used to be regular posters on those boards, what happened?
I used to see Polygamy Porter regularly on RFM, some hard hitting MADD infidels gave up on it...
I don't see much difference here and RFM and yet some guy calls RFM a "Cesspool", I found that rather funny.
I wish those MADD dissenters would not give up their postings.

Many of us here were banned from MAD. Some of us here have never posted on RFM. Some of us here never refer to anyone else's home as a 'cesspool', no matter how much we may disagree with what is posted there. Some of us have better manners than that. Obviously you disagree with that practice.

I don't post on RfM cause I don't need to Recover (being a nevermo...)

I don't post on MADD that much cause I haven't found it very interesting lately.

I post here for the hotties. That's reason in itself.

I never posted on MADD. I still post on RfM occasionally, less than I used to (and under another moniker). The boards are different---I came here to read runtu's posts and talk to him and I like that the posts stay here. I think that allows for more developed conversations. But I still use and contribute to RfM, too. Both boards are productive for my interests which are mainly Mormon and western history. And since I've made some very good and important friendships through both boards--both online and "real life"--I also participate for those reasons, too.

I eventually grew tired of RfM's heavy and ignorant moderation policies.

They deleted a reference I gave to a post on this site which was a somewhat pro Mormon review of September dawn.

They deleted the reference and not my entire post, so it made it look like I was pro Mormon, which it is quite obvious I AM NOT! a group of newbies started accusing me of being a TBM troll so I posted the direct link to the review again, and RfM mods deleted it.

I then sent them email asking why they do not like direct links to Shades board. All I got was "you know why"

After that, I sent them a message requesting they delete ALL of my posts. They complied. Nuff said.

I have posted a thread or two here and there, but pretty sparse.

I like Shady Acres because we are free to fully engage the enemy on a level playing field. Well, truth makes it level for me, but puts the defenders at a disadvantage :)

Early in my so called apostasy I also posted like a madman on FAIR, under many names. To of the biggest were Yowzaa and Joe Palmeto. All of my posts under those two names were deleted from their archives. I quit posting there for obvious reasons.

I'm a never-mo so never go to RFM. I can't read or navigate that board anyway.

I mainly stopped posting on MAD because I became disgusted after a MMM thread.

I also just tired of the constant oneupmanship between the various sects of Christianity. I really enjoyed MAD and felt I 'met' some really good people there. I was there to learn - and I learned A LOT. It became a bit overwhelming to me though so I came here for a bit of frivolity.

Stayed for the frivolity.

Then became a bit overwhelming here so I'll probably need to find a new playpen soon. :)

Well, I haven't quit, yet.

But, I have posted there much less frequently, frankly, because I find the erratic, unscripted, arbitrary moderatorial style there quite Orwellian.

There are lots of good folks there, but the good folks are being drowned out by the blowhards. That, and they're now shunting off critical posts by doubting members to LDSforums.org.

The unvarnished truth is becoming harder to come by there.

It's not a healthy environment for genuine dialog now.

I broke down and posted at MADB today, but it's the first time in a while and I don't plan to make a habit. I finally just lost patience with juliann's playground bullying.

I understand now better; For no reason they are heavy handed, act like total morons, deleting stuff so trivial. But it is hard to believe how some people can assume you'd be anything close to be a TBM, but same things happen to other people over and over.
There are still alots of sharp people posting over there, i do like them, that is why I do go there time to time.
Censorship is bad.
