The Mormon god interferes in U.S. elections...

Except when an important Mormon doctrine is at stake. A popular Mormon myth is that Stephen Douglas was winning the election until he turned against the Mormons, at which point Lincoln surged ahead. The irony of their god retreating before the Edmunds-Tucker Act apparently is lost on the LDS.

So, wait. You mean I have the Mormons to blame that the south did not secede from the union?! That's it... I'm turning in my temple recommend..... (oh, wait, I've already done that).
