This might shed some light on the matter.
Restocked Mondays before noon (generally).

I'm a lonely old man, Life.
Photoshop is the only
game I have installed on my computer.
Hope your evening is starting well.

Well, if I have to explain it, Dude, it's obviously not very funny. :(
In the LGT comic, this is where the Nephites obtain their plates.
FARM rep: "But where do all the plates
come from?"
Nephi: "From inside the mountain, obviously."
FARM rep: "You don't mine the ore and smelt it?"
Nephi: "Don't have to. We get refills every Monday."
FARM rep: "But
who refills it?"
Nephi: "I'm not understanding the question."
[/not funny acontextual visual gag]
PS. And there are
ten plates! I placed a separate gradient on each and rendered lighting effects to them all! (Darn the crappy screen resolution.)
PPS. My Nephi is a combination of
Space Ghost and The Tick.

According to the fairytale, they were practically tripping over nuggets of gold and silver:
15 And I did teach my people to build buildings, and to work in all manner of wood, and of iron, and of copper, and of brass, and of steel, and of gold, and of silver, and of precious ores, which were in great abundance.
Don't even get me started on the iron, copper, brass, and steel..
I guess Geneva steel was already here with the local natives and they just took it over or did they whip up a their own mill?
Stupid, ridiculous, illogical, fairytale from a boy who had a problem with masturbation.

I once came up with the idea that the plates were hidden as a monetary hedge dureing or just prior to the revolutary war by someone who did not come back to retrieve them. Well nobody retrieved them untill this group of teenagers were out in woods hunting treasure.
I was confronted by LDS apologists demanding that I document all thisl. I mean who was this treasure hiding colonist and what are the documents attesting to the stash?
Was I convinced that if I can not prove this tale I should be fairly sure it didn't happen?

I just wanna know where the god damned stone box is now.
Moroni the librarian did not take the stone box back, so where the hell is it?
The stone box that was a veritable engineer marvel.. for it kept out over 1400 seasons of heavy lake-effect snows, 1400 heavy spring rain seasons, not drop of water penetrated the enclosure! It also kept out the bugs and tree roots for FOURTEEN HUNDRED YEARS.
Yet shortly after it was cracked open, it is nowhere to be found and the only story from the lame assed mopologists is that it was reported "washing down the hill side in pieces"
CURELOME DUNG!
