Is it just me, or does the long list of parallels seem broad and vague enough so that it could apply to just about any culture around the world?

That paper is embarrassing! It was hard to read! but easy to skim - The book American Apocrypha, edited by Dan Vogel and Brent Metcalfe is the best read for understanding the Book of Mormon.

Let's see, we have such amazing parallels such as Mesoamericans could write, and so could the Nephites. Mesoamericans followed a calendar in their histories, and so did the Nephites. Coincidence? I think not.

And 228 footnotes listing even more incredible parallels.

Like Tarot card reading isn't it? Though out enough vague things and you are bound to find a tiny connection... then feed on that like there is no tomorrow.

Or throwing out a fish net that is so large that it must be very very thin. Problem with that is the only thing you catch is tiny tiny bacteria, yet Peterson will argue that it is the BEGINNING of a fish... therefore it is a fish.
