Why is it that a lot of people talk about having dreams of Mormon charactors as such. i have never drempt of anyone from Mormonism. I have drempt of Jesus and God. Oh the dream of Jesus scared me. I saw a picture in my dream and a few months later I saw the exact same picture. That gave me the heeby jeebies. It was scary. I have a lot of dreams that happen later and I can hear the birds sing just now.. They are so sweet. The thing is it is about 2 15 I thought they went to sleep at this time.

They don't.

What do birds singing have to do with your dreams?

Please refrain from posting random thoughts in the future.

I've had a few dreams about being in the company of righteous prophets over the years. I thought them very inspiring at the time. I've concluded that it was more projecting at the time more than anything. Maybe I just haven't had these dreams because I don't believe or follow the prophets. I do have odd dreams though.
I did have a dream on the mission where an infant quoted to me Helaman 5: 6-8. When I awoke, I looked it up and there it was. Quite miraculous. My wife and I kept this experience in mind when we sought out names for our children. I am thinking because you were a missionary, you have these dreams because it consumed a part of your life. And so it is dug deap within your mind.
Most of the dreams I've experienced over the years have been troubling. They have affected my perception in a very negative way rather than the other way around. Since I have written them off, I have felt much more at peace during waking hours. There have been a number of years where I can honestly say that a very negative outside influence had a direct control over them because of their uniqueness opposite my mindset. There have been numerous nights when I had no desire to sleep because I was so vexed by them. I would read chapters of the Book of Mormon, prayed for deliverance but to no avail.
I think there will be a reason for your dreams being troubling. Maybe your unconscious is trying to tell you something.
I'm glad I give them little meaning anymore. I'm weary of their misguided symbolisms.
Maybe you are not understanding the meanings of the symbolisms. Quite often dreams can mean something very different to that which you might think they mean. Also dreams can be jumbled stuff from bits of your life. I have never had a dream of religious beings except Jesus, God and random thinks I have never known of. But if it were that these dreams were supernatural and from God or prophets, then wouldn't even people who have no education of such religions have these experiences also? (Assuming these things exist.)

She might be referring to my Joseph Smith dream in my blog. I read an article in Atlantic Monthly decades ago that still stays with me. The article said most dreams are about something that just happened in your life or something you just read or something that is coming up. Sometimes when I start thinking about something and then that thought is interrupted by something, I may dream about that later on. To write things on a message board, things that are critical about a person, one who you are taught in childhood that had no faults and communed with the Gods takes courage - it can be a sort of a catharsis for your anger and pain, and you could expectedly, dream about it. I know since I have been writing about my anger and the deception and abuse that goes on in the Church, I find that I am starting to find happiness in today, where before it was always hoped for today but always in the future.
p.s. random thoughts are great for blogs; everyone on this board should/could have one.

Most dreams are of the GIGO variety. Things you have thought about, or witnessed, or discussed, etc. during the course of a day have to be jettisoned to clear the memory bannks. We are constant streams of this being processed out. During the sleep cycle which allows for REM sleep, it is like we reach in and get a handful of what is being jettisoned, and fashion it into some kind of coherent "story." Coherent only during the dream. Often times very incoherent when considered after waking.
For most dreams, there is no deep meaning. Don't believe all the Freudian stuff on this. After all, even Freud himself said, "A cigar is just a cigar."
