One of the constant claims is that exmormons HATE the Mormon church... But considering the facts and mechanisms in play, I fail to see it. Worse, I fail to see how exmormons HATE the Mormon church anymore than Mormons HATE exmormons.
For example, Mormonism runs off fear based control. "If you don't follow our teachings, you will not be with your family in the next life". Or "if you leave the church it is because you want to sin and are not a worthy person". So how are these fear based concepts fine, but exMormons somehow are HATE-filled?
Mormons like to dance and flail about, I know. It's now comical looking into it these days. Now that I am going to be a father, I have realized how important it is to understand the world as it is and deal with reality, rather than construct an alternate fantasy. Dealing with reality a positive light in a very dark world. Religious violence is common, religion seems to influence darker impulses in people, the most volatile and dangerous parts of the world are embroiled in religious conflict..... I am frightened of the world that I am bringing a child into. Ultimately it looks like people need to HATE something, and for Mormons, they get that high by trying to accuse exmormons of HATING the church.

A post for MAD
What would happen if a new poster suddenly arrived on MAD and posted the following:
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

The humor is that many of you claim to hate the term "Anti-Mormon". Do you deny there are people that sit outside the LDS Temples and general conferences screaming vulgar and nasty things? Those are Anti-Mormons, who do get ugly and nasty. You claim to hate being labelled as Anti-Mormon, but rush to defend yourself when someone talks about Anti-Mormons.
WHich is it? Are you simply critical of the Mormon church or are you actively Anti-Mormon? And when have Mormons come to your house screaming obsenities and passing out flyers to your neighbors claiming your brainwashed?

Josh,
Please answer my question.
What would be the reaction if I posted this on MAD?

I don't really care. I don't even know what MAD is other than a really racy magazine from the 80's. Why do you need to justify your actions based on a hypothetical?
MAD is FAIR's new name.
I'm not justifying any actions, by the way. I'm asking a simple question. If I arrived as a new poster on MAD (what you once knew was FAIR), and created this post, how would believers react to it?

The only point that question serves is to justify the rather agressive and nasty response here.

The point, Josh, is to try and help you see the combative nature of your posts. You are refusing to answer the question because you know the above post would be seen as argumentative and deliberately combative if I posted it on FAIR, and I would not be viewed as genuinely seeking dialogue.
As I just stated on the other thread, I don't really care if you come here and post aggressively and combatively. What I do care about is that you do so, and then portray yourself as an innocent victim when others respond in kind. (Besides which, you even interpreted other people's comments as personal attacks when they did not appear to be intended as such. )
Stop playing the victim, Josh. Recognize your own role in this insignificant drama.

Your deflecting again. Stop playing the victim, Dr. Crackerjack, and recognize your own role in this insignificant drama. Yes you, who thought you were so cleaver trying to drag up dirt that needed not be dragged up. Did I attack anyone, no not really..
Are we done yet?

Then answer the question in my original post.
How would believers on FAIR react to such a post?

I would post something like this:
"We see demosntrations of people "hating" the Church every day. There are anti-Mormon websites where people calls us a cult, insult our leaders both past and pressent, call us brainwashed, ignorant and superstitious. They demosntrate at General Conference and the opening of new temples. They publish books and DVD's with the express purpose of getting members to leave the Church and prospective members not to join. They spend money and time to do this.
You are right that in some the extremist view of religion leads to hatred. But this is not pure religion. The pure religion is love. We, too, are frigthened of the world we are bringing children into. Ultimately , to us, it looks like the ultimate conflict of love vs hate. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints preaches the gospel of love. We do not hate anyone, nor do we preach or teach hatred. It saddens us that there are those who simply will not allow us the freedom guaranteed in the Constituion to worship how we please."
If that new poster came back with more "You Mormons hate ex-Mormons," I would ask for specific examples. If none were forthcoming, I would write him off as a troll and stop responding to his posts.
