JSKAINS Just Can’t Hide From The Intertubes

JSKains wants everyone to delete every reference to him on the Internet. This stems from a claim that an anonymous email came in that threatened his family. JMS used this so-called "threat" to make a hasty retreat from MDB. He then continually PMd several posters asking for all information on him be taken down, including myself.

Let me see what I can find on JMS in just a few short minutes of browsing:

If you want to search, just Google.

Just another reason why many of us do not use our in real life names on-line. Who wants to be that accessible?

If nothing else, this should remind all of us that it's important to be aware what in real life information we're posting online. Josh wasn't happy when some of the things he'd publicly posted came back to haunt him, including his own photograph, but ultimately, we do have some control over what is and isn't out there in cyberspace.

I'm sorry he took down his own blog. If he wanted to delete his pic or edit his profile, that would have been fine, but I think he needed a writing outlet, and a blog is a good one.

For someone, like many, who has been through a lot of trials, you need to know that when you attend a church that is extreme in many measures that many other things may become extreme too, which can create obsessions and compulsions that may take medicine to help with the issues. I wasn't so lucky in my teens, twenties and thirties, but half way through my forties I got some medicine that has helped - and some of it is some heavy sh__ that people would role their eyes if they heard what it is. It's okay to be wierd. It's okay to seek help. All weirdness is relative to time, space and events. Just my thoughts.

Can we please take a break from the Josh-bashing? This is getting really old.

Hey ! I just wanted to say a quick thought. I’m new to the board but have experience with idenity theft. Cyberstalking and identity theft are two very serious issues in the internet world. One girl at the company I worked at was raped by an internet stalker. If there is even a possibility of a threat, why second guess it? Why not help the best you can? Yes, there is information out there, but compiling lists makes it worse.

Another idea is leaving the guy alone. If he left, let him leave. He reacts to attacks. Why keep bringing the issue back up? And if he is suicidal and emotionally unstable, do you think pushing him is the best course of action? I certainly would feel guilt if I keep posting lists of his past and then found a news article of a “Joshua [deleted]” with a .45 bullet in his head. I saw his website. He owns a .357 SP101. A .357 round and a pushed manic depressive makes for a wicked combination.

Finally, it is Christmas. If he has a new baby, lets let him focus on that. What a blessing that is. I would hate for another kid to be screwed up by an emotionally unstable father. I say lets move on. I would be interested in some interesting discussions on religion and Mormonism, not a bunch of chatter on one guy who has been a punching bag for a few disgrunted people.

God bless!

While I don't wish any poster on this board ill---or any poster on any other board I'm affiliated with, for that matter---I'm glad Infymus posted what is a timely reminder about how easy it is to access information on the Inter Webs. I think this is pertinent given the hysterical rants about the "cowardliness" of anonymity that tend to break out here now and again.

I'm hoping Hurrican [deleted] has washed out to sea and is dissipating off the coast of some place else now. Hopefully we're all in for some better weather : )

I think your right, a lesson like that has merit. One could, however, make the lesson less personal. Part of blowing away "Hurrican [deleted]" is not to bring him up!

Happy Holidays!

An interesting point, holiday, though a rather hollow one. Moreover, nobody here is compiling "lists" of anybody's in real life stuff, so far as I know. Instead, Josh seems to be flipping out because people have been looking into his online behavior---specifically, his online behavior as it pertains to Internet Mormonism. And really, who can blame them? Jskains came onto this board with guns a' blazin'. That somebody might want some information on his background is really no surprise. He was quite over-the-top, going so far as to post a Youtube lecture, for heaven's sake!

Another idea is leaving the guy alone.

What?!? Last time I checked, it was [deleted] who showed up here. No one has been following him around anywhere, as far as I know. Sure, people have followed the trail of stinking breadcrumbs that he's left behind during his online Mopologetic career, but so what?

If he left, let him leave. He reacts to attacks. Why keep bringing the issue back up? And if he is suicidal and emotionally unstable, do you think pushing him is the best course of action?

Who's "pushing"? The feeling I get is that skains is just trying to back out of an embarrassing situation. in my opinion, people tend to be forgiving when someone makes a genuine apology, even if they tend at the same time not to be forgetful.

I certainly would feel guilt if I keep posting lists of his past and then found a news article of a “Joshua [deleted]” with a .45 bullet in his head. I saw his website. He owns a .357 SP101. A .357 round and a pushed manic depressive makes for a wicked combination.

Would you feel guilt if you saw a news article of "Mr. Scratch" hanging from a noose because of the false accusations that were flung at him by jskains?

Finally, it is Christmas. If he has a new baby, lets let him focus on that. What a blessing that is. I would hate for another kid to be screwed up by an emotionally unstable father. Terrific! There are plenty of other threads on this MB that focus precisely on those things. For my money, [deleted] (as I am quickly learning) has long been a volatile mainstay of online Mormonism. To overlook him would be to overlook one of the critical personalities of Internet Mormon history; it would be akin to a study of Shakespeare that overlooks Falstaff.

From my perspective you were both going at each other. You both need time away. Hope your holidays are enjoyable!

God Bless!
