Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Pakistan, presumably by Islamic nuts. These guys are still stuck in the ancient past simply because they are following scripture that was handed down in the ancient past. Exactly why are the opinions of our ancient ancestors, who had a completely different set of concerns from us, held sacred?

I really don't know.

I suppose it has to do with the psychology of trying to honor our ancestors, or maybe thinking that somehow they had unlocked some secret knowledge that has somehow been lost.

I can't see it myself. I mean, they sacrificed animals to please their God. If God created the animals, wouldn't you think that He would want them to live out their natural lifespans?

I think these were more-so political nuts (although their political motivations were most likely heavily influenced by their religious beliefs).

May the death of the “Daughter of Destiny” serve to further the causes she so fervently fought in life.
