I did post & read both boards, as you guys know, they are heavily moderated.
This place is full of refugees from MADD (including me). I still don't get it, what causes
mods to silence someone? Who is above the criticism? From what I read, it seems so ridiculous
to put "me' or someone else on "ice" for few days. I commented on MADD on homosexuality;
"God is an old homophobic guy" and this Mod thinks I crossed the line, but obviously God doesn't
think so because he didn't take an offense.
Another example, dartagnan was commenting on how he would never trust DCP and put a lengthy
essay about DCP's pimping of Islam. I commented that his writings of Islam resembles Goebbels
propaganda about Germany. So he was pissed and did cut&paste my post to MADD and of course the rest
is history, I was expelled like you guys.
RFM follows a very strange pattern, keeps alienating decent posters year after year for most asinine reasons
which are hard to understand.
What is my beef other than writing what I think? I hope you mod guys can keep your fingers to yourselves and let us
read what people think.

I submit you can still be banned even if you are polite, refrain from ad hominem attacks of other posters, never use profanity, and are supportive of other posters. In the traditional American lexicon, are these not the components of nice? What do you mean by nice?

I don't believe you should moderate content and discussion on ideas, but I think personal attacks should be moderated.

This board needs more moderation of those kinds of posts, if you ask me. which nobody did...

I have nothing but my compliments to you. You face many skeptics here.
Same time "playing nice", what is that mean? Do I have to refrain saying something?
"heavy-handed" moderation dilutes the freedom of expression.
i.e. don't be afraid of saying what is in your mind. (Which is impossible on MADD).

I simply cannot fathom how you believe yourself to follow the "civil rules of debate." When was the last time you didn't resort to personal attacks? Hell, look at the post you just made. What was that thing Jesus said about having a plank in your own eye while trying to point out the speck in others'? I'm not saying that other people aren't just as guilty of personal attacks, but YOU are the one who has the nerve to bring up civility.

These mods, despite your ongoing venom, allow you to stay and say whatever you want. They let others do the same. An "anti" posting with even half your bad attitude on MAD would be excomm -- sorry, expelled, in a heartbeat. Come on.

Actually my lamentation was a compliment to this board's mods keeping their hands off.
Just keep expressing yourself! Ignore the ones you despise and do not respond them.
