Q for Coggins about biblical evidence against paid ministry

It's because the church prides itself on not having a paid ministry. I think that's silly, and paid ministries are a good idea, but in its early days the church made hay of the idea of the base minister working for satan for money, so it made its current bed.

Coggins No, actually, its a very bad idea, and its also unbiblical, which is a plus for anyone who thinks its a bad idea.

This is from the thread Funding for Apologetics.

Coggins, what’s your biblical support for this.

The Levites were paid from tithes and offerings. I've often seen the Levites used to justify the priesthood ban (the levites were priests), but that's also incorrect, as is Cog's assertion. Not every Levite was a priest, many were given the task of maintaining the temple, not necessarily officiating.

The Mohels were always offered tips.

Has anyone found those smilies yet?
