Wouldn't this also make Dan Peterson the Tom Cruise of Mormonism?
I'm sure he'd be delighted, if a bit nonplussed, to hear that.

I don't see the connection. How is a Hollywood actor laughing about and discussing his religion related to Daniel Peterson?

Dan Peterson is no where near as important to Mormonism as Tom Cruise is to Scientology.
I would venture to say that most Mormons don't even know his name.
I would say Mitt Romney is the Tom Cruise of Mormonism.

It would probably be a lot like getting Huckabee as a president... Whatever happened to Steve Young? I liked him. He would be my choice for the TC of Mormonism.

But yeah... huge Steve Young fan here. He was one of the greatest QB's of all time.

In order for Tom Cruise to be the DCP of scientology, he would have to be someone known in mainly scientologist circles for doing things like defending the plausibility Hawaii and Las Palmas volcanoes existing in a time period that contemporary geology would tell you they did not. Instead, he's an extremely famous celebrity who uses his celebrity to evangelize his religious beliefs.
