***HOW TO AVOID DOUBLE-POSTS***

I see a lot of messages saying, "double post deleted" or "deleted double post" or "duplicate--ignore" or things of that ilk.

I'm quite sure that this is because after people click the "Submit" button after composing a post, the board takes a LONG time to process it. People assume that it didn't take, so they click "Submit" again, only to find out that both responses "took." Am I right about this? Is this what is happening?

If so, then there's a way around this that'll hopefully reduce (if not eliminate) all the instances of double posting that I have to constantly delete:

If it seems like the board is taking way too long to accept your post, simply click on the "Mormon Discussions Forum Index" link near the upper-left corner of your screen. That way, you can continue reading, posting, or otherwise participating on the board while the system is processing your post in the background.

Hopefully that'll both fix the double-posting problem and eliminate the (rightful) complaints about any board slowness.

How about if you just fix the board taking a long time to post?

That's an issue for Keene, not me. He's the technical guru around here.

Sometimes it can also depend on how much you have going on your PC. People often have many windows open, and that will slow the submitted post. If you want it to load faster, close other windows.

It would be nice if it were as simple as closing windows. Something else is going on.

I have a simple rule, Mok. Press submit once. And I never get double posts. If it doesn't load, I scrap, close other windows, re-submit, and it loads faster. If you press submit twice, you're going to get a double post. Go take a drink of coffee (or milo) while-u-wait. The world won't come to an end in the interim.

Yes, that's what I am guilty of, Shades.

I sometimes have a few pages, but only because the previous ones stop responding and I can do nothing with them until they realise they are not responding and then allow me to close them. This I think, SUCKS!!!

That's just it. You don't HAVE to "do nothing." You can go ahead and click on the "Mormon Discussions Forum Index" link and be taken back to the index where you can keep right on reading and surfing "while-u-wait."

Do you see what I'm saying here?

Erm I don't mean like that. I mean my screen literally freezes and the mouse won't click anything. The whole screen eventually goes pale and then I have to close the whole thing. I can do nothing literally. Sometimes I have frozen pages for hours. One time I had a browser up for two days and it did nothing at all. It just stops responding. So I then open a new browser and I have had several browsers freeze on me. But that is my computers problem, not your's.
