Romneys impact on Mormon perceptions of self

How will Romneys campaign affect the self perception of Mormons who thought he was the great Mormon swooping in to save the constitution?

Festinger's theory of cognitive dissonance tells us that it will actually strengthen the false constructs holding up their worldview.

What say you?

It makes not one iota of difference what happens in the world. The charity's of this planet will always find a way to make it fit into their Mormon world view. When you live your life according to your imagination, anything is possible.

I don't think Mormons should be voting for a Mormon candidate simply because of his religion, any more than women should be voting for a woman just because she's a woman, or African-Americans should be voting for someone just because they're African-American (ditto for Baptists, Hispanics, Catholics and so on).

I hate to see members of the (LDS) Church latch on to Mitt Romney simply because he shares their faith. If they investigate the issues, weigh them, and still find he's their candidate, fine. But championing his cause simply because of his faith is tokenism.

Its what they are programmed to do. You can't expect Mormons to think objectively about Romney. If they were to take stock of why they follow him, nothing but blank stares and faith-based approaches are used. IE, "I BELIEVE in him as a candidate because he shares the same programming."

Actually I think he has the best chance to save our Health Care system and that's why he has my support.

Oh give me a break. And you guys can think objectively? Every criticism you have has some kind of religious jab.

I'm no sponsor of Mormonism and have been an avid critic for quite some time now. But I can set all my religious differences aside and realize he is the better candidate.

Disagree with others if you want, but don't blow them all aside for being too subjectively involved. Just look at rcrocket.

Uhhuh, I think its called "Farts and sunshine", also called "the plan of substance".

You settle on your choice to back romney because (and I have no way to prove this) you are a Mormon.

You decided to hate Mormons (and I have no way to prove this) because you're still a sad little child throwing a tantrum because you had lousy parents.
