Did anyone watch the Obama-Clinton debate last night?

Obama was awesome! He mopped the floor with Hillary, and was cordial the whole time he did it.

But that was the beauty of it. He was still able to get some good jabs in while remaining civil. The Democrats are stupid if they don't vote him in as the candidate. Of course, I think they're hoping it will be a Clinton/Obama ticket.

Until last night, I would never have thought Obama or Clinton would consider sharing the ticket with the other...but neither of them has a significant lead so both are facing the reality that they could lose.

I think that "love fest" last night shows that they are both hedging their bets. I think Clinton thought she'd have no trouble winning over Obama, but it hasn't turned out that way and she's been bleeding support that she thought was guaranteed her. I think they both realize that if the race continues to be close, then one of them is going to lose...and they both would rather share the ticket than be left out in the cold.

What I still do not understand, is why the Democrats did not pursue a shoe-in candidate like Edwards, as opposed to someone whom they agree with more like Obama and Clinton. This attention to some sort of principles would never trouble the Republicans, unless they are hard core ideologues.

Moksha, you want to see hard core idealogues...just look at the outrage among the conservative Republicans and the possibility that John McCain might be our nominee. I'm listening to Ann Coulter have a complete meltdown on Sean Hannity's show--the thought that John McCain who has thumbed his nose at this party more times than we can count could actually represent it is unbelievable to hard-core conservatives. This is not going to be fixed by just insisting that Republicans have to rally behind him so he can keep a Democrat out of the white house--heck he votes like a Democrat, he might as well be one! If John McCain gets the nomination, many among the conservative wing of the Republican party will stay home come election day.

The thing is, that Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are hacks. Did you ever see Hannity's disgraceful performance at UVSC? That guy has some hot air issues. Yeah, these conservative ideologues are very scared of McCain's finance reform ideas and for not toeing the Oil Company line. Still, he lacks the willingness to get us out of Iraq - so he has some conservative traits. Who knows, maybe the ideologues will be able to shoot themselves in the foot.

Heh, I thought Hillary was the clear winner.

I'm still undecided. My candidate was always John Edwards. :(
