Thought you would like to know the new First Presidency. We all knew it was going to President Monson as the prophet, of course.
Edited to add: Elder Packer is now the President of the Quorum of the Twelve, not acting president as he has been.

Elder Uchdorf in the FP! I like that choice very much.

Heh. You spelled uchtdorf right, but botched monson?
Side note: So much for those posters at MAD who had spiritual manifestations that packer would be in the presidency. The spirit is soooo reliable...

I particularly enjoyed the press conference where several antiMormon style questions were asked. Monson handled them beautifully. In particular, there is no room for disagreement with the Church on doctrine but there is on political issues. However, as we all know, the Church takes stands on certain political issues that are doctrinal. With regards to the Marriage Amendment question, I liked how he introduced the term 'apostasy'. Unfortunately, I doubt Harry Reid will be ex'd anytime soon....

Not that it matters to me, but isn't Uchtdorf as little "young" and "green" to be in the FP? It seems to me that he was just called as an Apostle a couple of years ago.

Coz he is up to funny business. In my dream a prophet was younger than most of the others. The one that all people accepted as a real prophet, not just Mormons.

I think that's the point. The church has a reputation of being a bit geriatric and behind the times, so some young blood in the FP brings some modernism (word?) to the church. I would also think it grooms him for some heavy duty future importance in the church.

At age 67 Elder Uchtdorf is considerably older than Elder Monson was when called into the first presiency at age 58.
And about some future importance in the Church. As a member of the first presidency, the only higher importance is the propeht. This comes to the person who is the senior apostle at the time of the death of the current prophet. Nine apostles are in line ahead of Elder Uchtdorf. And Elder Bednar is 12 years younger than Elder Uchtdorf.

They need younger guys to prophesy in the streets of Jesusalem for 3 and a half years. Now they just send the two counselors. Problem solved.
