Mormons and Israelites

Sometimes (manytimes) we are crtical of the Mormon Church but what is going on now is just a repeat of what went on with the Israelites from about 900BC to 300BC: Thoughts are created from legends and written down. Those things written are embraced by a certain group as God's word. The written word is reworked, padded, polished, edited, redacted and read to the group. Rituals are created for the group. The group goes through trial and tribulation and persecution. It seems that the Mormon church is pretty much just following the history of what the Israelites went through with their trials and how they created their scriptures.
P.S I highly recommend Robin Lane Fox's book The Unathorized Version: Truth and Fiction in the Bible. The Old Testament disturbed me prior to reading this book but I've been glued to the Old Tesatment since reading it. He helps you understand how scripture is written. I actually bought a new Bible - The New American Bible (NAB) after reading this book as it has the old testatment apocrypha in it - I also recommend the New American Bible too as it's really close to the King James Version but easier to read.
