Romney and Presidency, Blacks and Priesthood

Post by _Joey »

Oh the irony.

I have been reading all the persecution complex statements at MAD about how Romney was not accepted as a viable presidential candidate simply because he was a Mormon and people could not accept his religious beliefs. How outrageous it is to judge him simply because he was a Mormon.

Perhaps LDS members should harken back to the same position they took upon african americans in this world just years ago. They were not good enough simply because of the color of thier skin.

That Juliann over there could have each one of her persecution complex arguments about Romney used by any african american is substitute to thier exclusion in her church.

Simply amazing how ignorant LDS members can be!!!

The simple truth: Romney split the conservative vote with Huckabee. McCain took all the other votes. Yeah, maybe a small minority voted against Romney because of his religion (and as expected, he did worse in the South than anywhere else), but I suspect most people just voted for "their guy." If there hadn't been two religious conservatives in the race, he might well have won the nomination.

I think you might be judging the folks over there a tad harshly. Yes, there are a few one-note posters who see everything related to Romney in terms of good vs. evil, but I don't think you can generalize some of the idiots out to "LDS members." Some LDS members are knuckleheads, but not LDS members in general.

This is what i was saying in the other thread. Those posters at MAD need to get a grip. The folks in the south didn't NOT vote for romney, they voted FOR their EV candidate. Just like 90% of the utah republicans voted FOR romney (not against the EV huck). Romney got a higher percentage of votes in utah, than huck did in the south.

I'm with kevin. people are idiots.

I can't speak for others, but I personally put a great deal of effort into being ignorant. I'm glad it hasn't gone unnoticed.
