I got nailed...

On another thread I got nailed for threadjacking. It was legit. I was trying to kill two birds with one stone and give a link to an interesting interview I found online, while at the same time making a comment germane to the topic of the thread. Anyway, here is the link that I should have started a separate thread on so as to "advertise" the interview. Those of you who have heard of Robert Millet know that he is a respected scholar from BYU who has had a significant amount of experience in interfaith dialogue. Recently he was interviewed by Krista Tippet on the Speaking of Faith program (American Public Media). I think that the interview was another significant move forward in interfaith understanding. Some of you may be interested in listening to it. I would recommend listening to the unedited version which is found as a link on this page:

http://speakingoffaith.publicradio.org/ ... ndex.shtml

Robert Millet speaks my language.

MG

Is this the same guy with that youtube video of him talking to missionaries, basically telling them how to dodge difficult questions, and 'not answer the question that was asked, but answer the question that should have been asked'?

Oxymoron

It's a contradiction in terms to link "respected scholar" with "BYU."

Did you listen to the complete Krista Tippet interview? Positive? Negative?

It's a clear contradiction in term to link "respected scholar" with "BYU."

Check out Publisher's Weekly review of a new book that Millet has published recently.

Or how about this one:

There are at least some who consider him to be a scholar worth listening to.

How did you like the interview with Krista Tippet?

MG

Hey, Mormons study a lot of things besides archeology.

This may be one of the reasons active Mormons don't show their keyboard strokes much around here. What a tunnel visioned statement you're making here! I'm picturing a horse with blinders on that moves forward not able to see to either side.

For those that are willing/able to look periphally and are not struggling with tunnel vision, here are some comments on the Tippet/Millet interview.

Go to:

http://mormonmatters.org/

Scroll down near the bottom of the page and link to:

Robert Millet & Krista Tippet Pt. 3: Robert Millet as a Budding “Sunstone” or “New Order” Mormon.

There is a part two also, but I found pt. 3 a bit more interesting.

True enough. But it's good to have some BYU archeologists and an anthropologist along on a trip to identify a possible location/route for the Lehite group as they prepared to cross the ocean to the New World.

I assume you've seen "Journey of Faith".

I reviewed A Different Jesus on my blog. In my opinion Millet is smart, open-minded, and good at what he does. But he is typical in wanting to make the faith sound good, and sometimes tries a little too hard. in my opinion
