Skip to 7:15 to see the blatant omissions.

Is is the fallacious facade that is foisted upon the unwitting public at the Joseph Smith memorial theater in SLC and visitors centers around the world?

Un-f***ing-believable.

Notice that the guys who killed him all had gnarly teeth and looked like West Virginia mountain bumpkins?

Yeah, Joseph isn't there firing his pepperbox pistol into the crowd.

I personally don't have a problem with Joseph doing that. If I were under attack from a mob, and had a gun handy, I'd use it to. But you're right, the filmmakers decided that that didn't need to be shown, and left it out. Which makes the depiction of the killing of Joseph Smith inaccurate.

LOL!

To keep the entire show "family friendly" they had to omit the parts where Joe was getting busy with the teen girls.

I wonder how well-received a film would be that depicted Joseph Smith getting a girl alone in a room and then revealing to her that not only was it A-OK with God that a man might have more than one wife, but in fact God had given that girl to him already to be one of his (many) other wives. And then the girl resists it and doesn't want to, and Joseph Smith then gently argues with her to overcome her objections and convince her that she needs to do it. And then to have Joseph Smith tell the girl that in fact, an angel with a drawn sword had appeared to him and commanded him to marry these other women or else he would be killed (ie: if she doesn't marry him he'll be killed). And then, finally, when he starts giving her spiritual candy to convince her, by promising her that not only she, but her entire family will be saved and exalted in the Celestial Kingdom if she'll agree to it.

So, she gives in to his advances and marries him in a secret ceremony with Brigham Young.

Oh, and then at the end, Joseph solemnly warns her that this is "our little secret", and that under no circumstances can his wife Emma find out about it.

I bet that would go over really well, don't you?

And Emma peeking through a knot hole in the wall, secretly watching Joe getting it on with Fanny.
