As a father, can I legally forbid a bishop from asking sexual questions to my underage children?

Can they withhold giving my son the priesthood if I don't allow them to ask those questions?

Don't let them. They have no legal right to ask the questions. How does your childs mother feel about it and if you were to object what would be the relevant consequences by doing so?

IANAL, but if you can't stop their mother from asking them those questions, then the bishop could probably ask them through her (or with her present) and there's probably nothing you could do about it.

At one point, with one really BAD bishop, my TBM husband told the bishop that he could not meet with our children without a parent present.

Today, under no circumstances would I allow a neighbor man, to discuss sexual matters alone with a child of mine.

It is totally inappropriate!

Inappropriate or not, I don't know why the bishops dare. If I were called as a bishop, I'd make it clear that I refust to do interviews with minors unless I have a counselor present (for my protection).

My wife is fine with my request. She understands my concerns and agrees with me to a point.

Yes. Would you win a lawsuit? I don't know.

Can they withhold giving my son the priesthood if I don't allow them to ask those questions?

Yes.

yes it seems you could.

Can they withhold the priesthood? Yes it seems they could.

A suggestion. Talk the bish before hand. Tell him you do not want specifics and details and that you will sit in on the interview.

So are y'all saying that in order for a boy to get (or advance in), the priesthood, parents have to agree to allow their son to be asked inappropriate questions about his sexuality from the Bishop?

If the parents and the child do not agree to this he will be denied the priesthood?

WEIRD.

This whole interview thing is just soooooooooo wrong. It seriously needs to change. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it will require many more law suits and some public humiliation before a revelation comes.

Actually, I really find it difficult to believe that this policy has not already changed. I would think parents would be aware enough of the inappropriateness of it all that they would decline to allow their children to participate.

Pfft. Yeah. I made it clear to my ex and to her Bishop that under no circumstances will any LDS leadership be alone with either of my girls, nor will they ever ask them anything of a sexual or inappropriate nature... With or without an adult presence. If that were to happen I would sue the LDS church and name any adult involved in that suit. That put an end to that. Everyone knows that when my kids are 18 they're more than welcome to choose their own path when it comes to religious matters. Until then, they need to be shielded from assholes who ask them about masturbation and sexual thoughts. Jesus.

Regarding your second question, of course they can. They can do whatever they want with their fantastical mystical wondifferul religion. It's their sandbox, you're only an invitee...
