Lets see the Church - providing wards for illegal aliens, taking their money, phone lines, money transfers, saying nothing if a deported illegal alien is back in the ward means the person that a felony is back in the ward, giving him church assignments, taking his money, phone lines, money transfers hmmm.

I've heard of it, but I didn't really know either, so I looked it up on
wiki:
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (commonly referred to as RICO Act or RICO) is a United States federal law that provides for extended penalties for criminal acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization. RICO was enacted by section 901(a) of the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970 (Pub.L. 91-452, 84 Stat. 922, enacted 1970-10-15). RICO is codified as Chapter 96 of Title 18 of the United States Code, 18 U.S.C. § 1961–1968. It was intended to make it easier to prosecute organized crime figures, but has been applied in several other cases as well.

There's nothing illegal about taking an illegal alien's money. Nor is it illegal to allow an illegal alien to participate in church services or hold a calling.
And although the church has nothing to do with money transfers, it's also not illegal for Western Union or the like to wire money from an illegal alien somewhere.
No crimes are being committed. How does RICO apply?

You of course are assuming that the Mccain/feinstein "harbinger" bill of 2009 will not be in effect. (i'm totally puling this one out of my a**)
This bill will enact the border guards and the national guard. Starting in Arizona they will lock down with force.
We will see daily reports on Fox News covering the miraculous miracle of 'Fortress America'.

I hear over the years is that the FEDs have to catch and organization doing two things for RICO to apply and then they seize their assests so they can't use them for money for their lawyers: one they always get is always the transfer of money over state lines for some illegal scheme; the other is some other issue. What about illegal's working at Deseret industries as that would be one and then they just have to find number two.

edit in: I can't put my finger on it as it' just an impression but it has to do with illegal aliens and money transfers which occur across state lines via the phone or cable lines.

I'm not seeing a connection to an organized criminal enterprise, which is what I thought RICO was supposed address. What exactly is illegal about what the church does?

Absolutely nothing. I think the entire proposition is ridiculously silly.
