For grins I popped over to the Mormon.com live chat-with-a-missie room.
I told him I had been reading Bushman's book and begin asking about the multiple versions of the fist vision.
He said it was not official doctrine and the only doctrinal record of smith's vision was recorded in the PoGP.
I asked if he had heard of Richard Bushman and he said no and did not need any additional books outside of his scriptures and the testimony of truth he had gained from praying.
I then asked how his spiritual experience could Trump those of other faiths?
He said that the CoJCoLDS was the only true church restored by the true prophet Joseph Smith.
Testimony bearing ensued.
He then said if I was there to only bash his church he would end the conversation. I needed to be open to listening and learning.
I said ok, may we discuss the Book of Mormon?
Sure! he replied and he bore his testiphony that he knew Joseph Smith was a true prophet who translated the plates into the Book of Mormon.
I asked where are the golden plates?
he hung up.
Look, they only added 89,000 more baptisms to their database last year. Do they think this online bank of babbling monkeys will help?

What, exactly, is the purpose of this chat?
I guess not to debate controversial subjects, eh?
I can't blame them. They probably have every idiot anti-Mormon in the world (and, yes, that means you, B&L) trying to pawn their anti-Mormon facts on them. They are probably taught to ignore these people, and send real missionaries to those who have a genuine interest in Mormonism.

He grants you discussion of the Book of Mormon and then withdraws the offer. Neato.

This is long dead and buried. Are you really ignorant of the easy arugment that can, and has, been brought to bear against this by apologists--long ago?
I then asked how his spiritual experience could Trump those of other faiths?
Why couldn't they?
I asked where are the golden plates?
Is this kind of simplistic, intellectual slovenliness really necessary?

If you recognize your behavior is childish then why do you continue to be an ass?

This coming from one who trolls the MA&D House with idiotic posts like:
Second, if the Pope made a press release that Christ had returned and will be taking his rightful place at the head of the one true church, that being Catholicism, would you leave Mormonism?

Quite easy actually. Especially with your thousands of posts over there.
Do you like ketchup on your egg?

Did you ask him if he was open to listening and learning? You need to refine your approach, if you're going to actually be effective, Boaz. Right now, you're giving ex-mormons a bad name.

Actually I did ask him if he was willing to be open to listening and learning. I asked him if he could be objective and he said it would be hard because he already knew the truth.
It was 10 minutes of free entertainment. I don't care about being effective. As long as LDS Inc puts these suckers up to the task of volunteering to answer questions, I see it as free entertainment.
What do you care if exmormons are getting a bad name? You are still a Mormon.
And besides, the title of exmormon is already a bad name when a Mormon hears it. Duh?
