I like this, although I suspect that some at MAD would point out it is the patient's fault that they had previously failed to inject themselves.
Anyway, there is a real need for this History Vaccine. Once innoculated, it could stem the tide of deconversions.

I knew about BY and polygamy from a very young age. Never bothered me at all, since I had grown up knowing about it.

I'm still not sure why Joseph Smith's polygamy was such a shock to me, but it was. I really don't think it would have been if I'd have learned about it all throughout the years.

It is funny how that works. BY's polygamy not a big deal, Joseph Smith's polygamy is a big deal. It makes no sense why Old Testament would be ok for one prophet and not the other. You make a good point that one was taught openly from the time we were kids, and the other not so openly and we learned about it as adults. This might be a good lesson for the church. Start teaching all the issues and the FARMS apologetics (book of Abraham, polygamy, Book of Mormon historocity, MMM, Blacks and the priesthood, etc) in Primary. Don't save these issues for advanced doctrinal studies at BYU. Teach them to the children.

BY's polygamy wasn't as alarming to a lot of us because it was fairly open, and allowing for some things like Zina Jacobs to fall between the cracks, we pretty much all knew BY had lots of wives.

With Joseph Smith, it wasn't nearly so much the polygamy aspect itself which was so off-putting. It was the secrecy, the deception, the betrayal, and the bizarre marrying of other mens' wives behind their backs. This was compounded by the fact that most of us learned of these things only as adults, sometimes decades into our adulthood, and the realization that we hadn't known this before, suggested a measure of whitewashing and history hiding to us that is alarming to someone used to openness and honesty, and accountability.
