Characters from the Gold Plates

Here is a sample of some Reformed Egyptian characters copied from the Golden Plates by Joseph Smith himself! Why do we not see these characters more often? This is an amazing artifact. Actual physical proof of the Golden Plates existence. It seems these characters would be all over Mesoamerican artifacts. If we can match these characters to characters found in Mesoamerica, that would be huge.
Edited with a smaller image. Thanks canucklehead.

I think you forgot to attach the file, but you probably meant this, right?
Does anyone know what the apologist explanation for these characters is? It seems like a pretty strong indication that Smith was making up the entire thing.
EDIT: Whoops, I guess you got the photo in there after all. (But maybe you might want to make it a smaller one so that you can avoid causing horizontal scrolling for the remainder of this page.)

Where is this from? Did Joseph Smith make it?

Yes, Joseph Smith made it and sent it to Dr. Charles Anthon to have him verify that the "caractors" on the "gold plates" were ancient and authentic.

I see that there's a FARMS paper on the topic, claiming that there was a cylinder found in mesoamerica which contained characters similar to the Anthon transcript. Does anyone know about this?
If such a thing truly existed, you'd think that it would be constantly trumpeted by FARMS over and over again.

It shouldn't be too hard to decode. The first 15 characters probably spell "And it came to pass." The 14th and 15th characters in this transcript are identical little curved characters, which would be consistent with the two "S"s in "pass." Therefore the little curve symbol is an "S."

The sad thing is that the church promotes the story that Joseph Smith wrote himself after Martin Harris left the church saying that it was correct - we won't even get into why he sent something to the professor when only he had the gift to translate them.

I've always thought it kind of funny that these characters aren't spoken of very often. If these are any sort of Egyptian at all, you'd think that scholars could identify them as such.
Phoenician characters were ancestors to Greek characters, which are ancestors to the Latin alphabet we use today. Interesting how they can actually be recognized as such.
Have any scholars recognized the Anthon characters as Egyptian? Not that I've heard.
This is just bogus nonsense that Joseph Smith made up, because he knew that nobody at the time could contradict him. It's laughable how people today still can't see that, because they won't see it.

Scottie, have you not seen the so-called "Anthon Characters" before? I ask because I thought they were pretty well known. Maybe it is the case like Sethbag says that they are not displayed or discussed as much now.
