Church to vote on vandalism charges
"SAN LUIS - Officials of the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church here may decide today whether to file charges against three Mormon missionaries in the 2006 vandalism of a local shrine."
"We're just mortified this has happened. This is not what we're about," he said.
He said the three, who come from California, Idaho and Nevada, would face restrictions on their church memberships, although he declined to discuss the nature of the restrictions."

What do you expect? The MTC mob mentality does not teach respect or tolerance for other faiths.

Other photos, also posted on the Photobucket Web site, but removed after Thursday, depicted another missionary who appeared to preach from the Book of Mormon inside the Chapel of All Saints. A third photo showed one missionary pretending to sacrifice another on the altar at the Shrine of the Mexican Martyrs.
Wish we could see the other photos.
by the way, wish all vandals would bring cameras to the scene of the crime, take pictures of themselves and post them on the web.

Yes, in fact we do, more than most religions, in point of fact.
Is it actually raw, naked stupidity at work with you two, or just irrational, juvenile bigotry?

Good question, but the two young Elders can't actually hear you.

Well, what an embarrassing incident for the Church. However, that this is even newsworthy probably means that this doesn't occur too often... Or at least they're not caught.
Actual destruction of property is a no no in my book. Yet, young men being a bit flippant and sacrilegious sort of doesn't get me too upset...
In another 10 years they'll probably be drawing on pics of Joseph Smith. :)

This is something that must be, for all intents and purposes, unknown in the Church. I've never heard of such an incident in all of my life.

Did you serve a full-time mission?
This type of nit-wittery---mocking other religions---is fairly common in missions in majority Catholic countries.

And why should I believe you Jack? Are you an authoritative source? Oh, just telling some stories? Here come more stories of how bad the Church and its people are. I've been in the Church all of my life, and although I never served a full time mission, I've done plenty of it with those so serving. I've also been close to many who have been on foreign missions in Catholic and other countries, and your claim that this is common sounds as phony as most of the other such stories we are used to intercepting here in the MIG Ally of Mormondiscussions.com

Come to think of it, this would be very odd indeed, given the degree to which respect for the religions of others is deeply inculcated into us from childhood, in our scriptures, the writings of the General Authorities, and in our Gospel Doctrine classes. It would be a rank departure from accepted teachings. I have heard missionaries express some immature and insular attitudes about other religions, but his has been the exception, in my experience.
