Split from Harmony's Thread, Who Needs To Know?

Post by _Moniker »

I want to know how often the Church talks about converts and to stay away from these "girls" 'cause of possible past sexual transgressions? I think this plays a HUGE part into this mentality. Baggage is JUST sex in LDS culture. Bizarre.

Thinking that past sex WHATEVER makes someone flawed or assuming that they have "issues" 'cause they have sex! I don't geddit!

Then! Then, you have a woman that actually MAY have been abused and no one can deal with her. I think some of these men just can't deal with anything! :D

Oh man.......

What you gonna do, turn away from her?

I'm supposed to love promiscuous women who routinely cheat on their husbands in a christlike and unconditional way. Still don't plan on marrying one.

The difference between a husband-wife relationship and a father-daughter relationship are (and should be) vast. Apples and oranges. One commonality would be that if you abused either of them I would kill you.

And another thing while I'm on a roll.

I would IMAGINE that women from the LDS culture do have "issues" with abuse 'cause none of the men apparently can frickin' handle it! They are told they're chattel pretty much, then they're used up -- then they have "issues"... I'll tell you what -- That would make me have some damn issues as well!

You think sexual abuse is somehow related to a woman being promiscuous and cheating on their husbands?

What? Where is the correlation here???

I think this plays a HUGE part into this mentality. Baggage is JUST sex in LDS culture. Bizarre. I've had people on THIS SITE think I was raped or sexually abused 'cause of what? WHAT? Nothing! I am normal. I'm AVERAGE for a female in America. Most relationships were Looooong term... emotionally bonded to my partners for the most part, etc...

Yet, no -- there is SOMETHING wrong! I don't geddit. I am telling you all right now -- it's OFF! It's WEIRD! Thinking that past sex WHATEVER makes someone flawed or assuming that they have "issues" (shades -- you prescribed issues to me that were NOT accurate and it put me into a full frickin tizzy mode!:) 'cause they have sex! I don't geddit!

Brings back memories...I hated relief society, because the talks often seemed to be on sexual purity. The BIC girls fared fine, converts like me had trouble. It wasn't that I didn't want to obey, it was that I couldn't get over feeling so filthy. I felt like a leper sometimes. Now I understand why.

In my generation, never heard advice to stay away from girls due to them being converts. We've had 3 weddings in my ward in the past 2 weeks. All between converts and life-long members. If such advice exists, it's not working.

WTF does this have to do with abuse? See, you just bared your bias right there, Nehor.

Nehor, please explain how sexual abuse correlates with unchaste wives.

by the way, I felt like I was popped into the relief society for a while here -- I didn't recognize it 'though for a while. Egad!
