Why I stayed in so long
Ill confess, my fascination with the Occult kept me in Mormonism. My present Fraternal obligations speaks for itself. Ever since my 16th year I have tied Joe, the temple, Masonry and wishywashy agnosticism into a narrative that has heled me through the years. It seems the Jupiter Talisman sparked off a fever of fascination with a 15th century Grimoire, Key of Solomon (Clavicula Salomoni).
On my mission I noticed a pushback against such views. Although I never practiced the ceremonies, I did wear a Jupiter Talisman and crafted my own. When questioned, I stated that Joseph Smith himself wore the charm and would from time to time silence uppity missionaries having fun at my expense.
Truth be told, the first Mormon History book I bought was from Quinn.

And lost in space...and meaning

Did the one you made have those same markings, or did you make your own?

For $15 and $2.50 S&H you can have your own replica.
Jupiter Talisman on eBay
I don't know how to split a long address like this one. Just go to ebay and search "Jupiter Talisman" it's the first item.

I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

You know I've wondered how much the "magical" appeals to some in LDS. They talk about the occult with tsk tsks and Tsuzuki gets picked on a wee bit (it seems by a few) yet, the entire religion just strikes me as being very "magical". I know Nephi and his wife said that they were drawn to it for that reason.
