Wow. In basically a month's time we've been informed that we're losing Levi, John Dehlin, and now also Dan Wotherspoon! It's like the Mormon Studies apocalypse! I wonder if they're working on some secret collaborative project together...

Anyway, if anybody's a liberal Mormon and a good editor and needs a job, they're taking applications.

I should apply. I wonder if you have to live in Utah?

I would think that you would need to be in the office. To bad you or Blixa are not in Utah. Runtu is the next logical candidate. Wonder if he would be interested.

Could this be the start of the Monson Crackdown(TM)?

The first mistake they made was publicly acting as a "Liberal Mormon". How do we know they were not given orders to shut up, pray, pay and obey?

Thanks Moksha, but no way. My interest in things Mormon is not nearly as serious or thorough as the postition would require. All I've got is a bad case of childhood nostalgia that's spurring a single project. My scholarly interest in Mormonism is fairly minor, its only as a component of western history that it has sailed into my ken, and western americana itself is tangential to my main interests.

I think the resignation of the choir director was the first casuality.

I think you should apply -- you'd do a helluva job. I know that Dialogue has had chief editors all over the country, so I don't know why Sunstone couldn't do the same thing (other than the fact they have an office in SLC).

Timing is everything..

I think that as long as Mitt has even a long shot at the VP, Monson will keep on the down low.

Getting publicity for reprimanding liberals of whatever stripe does not outweigh the prestige of getting a Fellow in the Whitehouse. I can only imagine they are praticing the strategem of restraint for the moment. Let's see what happens after November.

Don't you think?

(by the way, I busted up hearing Adam Corrola comment on his Mormon partner's dress)

These events are below the radar. If indeed there is a push by the SCMC to reign in the liberal Mormons, the subservient mindset these individuals have limits the ammount of information they are willing to pass on concerning WHY they stopped.

I dunno. It could just be a coincidence too.

Who is this "Levi" of whom you speak?
