This is amusing...

The mods set out to do something to actually improve this board, and here we find the storming of the Bastille...

How funny this is, the moment it's suggested that people have the freedom to shut down those who want to step in and constantly bombard them for believing what they believe, all of a sudden "free speech is in trouble".

Let me ask, if there was someone on your front lawn shouting that they didn't agree with something that you believed or did, how long would you be able to ignore them?

Beliefs are personal and intrinsic, and I think that if the tables were turned, and all of a sudden the atheists on here became the dumb and deluded ones, there would be an even bigger uproar.

To be honest, I don't think most people want to discuss theism on this board. It's haute coteur to see yourself has "having escaped", and those who are still Mormon, those folks are disturbed...deranged...

And lets not get into those who leave the LDS church only to transition to another faith...they're "sucking their spiritual thumbs". They're exchanging one pile of crap for another. No, I'm not quoting anyone word-for-word here.

I used to take out my Bible and go tit-for-tat with folks here who only quoted the skeptic sites, I did my best to try to explain things from my point of view, that of a theist who wasn't a Bible literalist. But then I realized that they didn't respect me, so why respect them and give of my time?

It's not about what's "irrational" and what is not. Whether or not a person's beliefs are irrational is a matter of opinion. I know that's hard to swallow here, but if anyone here is as intelligent as they claim to be, you will admit that. Either you say that ALL beliefs (including the belief that there is no God, because you can't prove that anymore than you can prove there is a God) are irrational, or you say none are, and there is limitless possibility out there in this world.

It's sick that humans go on and on about either the validity of a faith or whther or not there is validity in faith at all. Why not appreciate diversity and move on with your damn life? People who go on and on about "the truth" here are really going overboard. People can know about the true history of the LDS church and still be members. It is not up to you to decide who they are as people. It's arrogant of you to assume that they have less integrity because they are LDS. I know of people (hell, I'll see my Sista next friday and meet her child for the first time) who know "the truth", and though I do NOT understand, I still respect their choice. But my integrity is equal to a pile of diahrrea because I have an antipathy for who has become the DCP of this board and those who want to guild that individual's pedestal.

I looked at the memberlist of this board. It is HUGE. And I bet you, a lot of them were LDS looking for a place where it was ok to question...and all they got was shot in the face about how utterly stupid they were, not only for being Mormon, but for believing in God, period.

This board is not a "Mormon" board. It is an "atheist dominated" board with people from other leanings who feel comfortable enough with the sideshow.

There was once a time (for the umpteenth time) that Celestial had threads in it about beliefs...beliefs are not testimony, put the pull-up back on. In come our pundits, who just had to ask them, why start this thread, belief in God is illogical...your posts are illogical, your thoughts are illogical...and it went on and on until no one wanted to post anything up there at all.

Mormons leave this board when they see their garments in people's avatars. Mormons leave this board when they see that there is no discussion here, all there is is the constant repitition that there is something wrong with LDS for being LDS, and a lot wrong with the LDS church as a whole. We can't stop with criticism of LDS.inc, we have to carry it on to individual people. Sure, ther are LDS assholes, but I've met some very wonderful LDS people.

It seems that in order to be LDS and be respected here, you have to damn near sell your integrity...or risk being bitten every once in a while.

No, this forum isn't for Mormon discussion. Sure, it was started due to the BS on FAIR...but swinging to the opposite end of the spectrum has done nothing more than give sugar to the kids who didn't belong over there anyway.

You can have freedom of speech without defecating on someone's character. You can have freedom of speech WHILE defecating on someone's character. I just did that, and my mouth and bowels feel quite free. And I don't take back what I said. Do not complain about something you don't want something done about. Reminds me of my brother who has bitched about his wife for ten years, now he calls me about some lightskirt that he wishes he'd met five years ago...but his wife is pregnant now. I'll disown him if he cheats. You had a chance to move on...you complained and made no action. So don't bitch when someone moves for you. Harlot better hope I don't get her number...

But I just wanted to drop by and say I think it is ludicrous that so many people are objecting to something that doesn't really even touch them.

How long would you stand by and ignore me if I called you an idiot once every five minutes? How many humans here are that strong within themselves? Seriously...

Our "pundits" commented where they saw fit. The functioning of the Celestial Forum is now under discussion. I assume that the posting of "traps" will not be permitted there and certainly not by moderators who set people up for the sole purpose of issuing forth moderator comments on the people for whom the set up was intended.

And I don't take back what I said. Do not complain about something you don't want something done about.

To whom is this directed?

Are you referring to Facebook threads? I had no problem with them. Just some questions which I asked in the Celestial. Overall, I think those who think they want them will find that no one will respond to them. But if they want to rant or testify, it's an outlet.

I think the idea of moderating based on the Three Degrees of glory works just fine for most cases.
