Some Clarification on Kevin's Board

Since Alter Idem mentioned concerns about what I was doing with Kevin's old message board, let me clarify a few things:
For the last couple of weeks, I have been corresponding via email with Runtu, Blixa, and Sammi(GIMR). All three of them have been fed up with the amount of personal attacks that have been occurring on Shades' board as of late.
I had toyed with the idea of creating my own message board, and then I remembered that I had Admin rights on Kevin's old site that really hadn't been used in months. I PM'd Kevin and asked him if it was OK to use.
And, yes, I have invited folks over there. There are quite a few people here who have registered on that site, and I'm not going to kick anyone off. However, since my goal is not to steal traffic away from Shades, and the feel of this board is different, I purposely didn't make any type of formal announcement about the board, either.
My goal was simply to create a little corner that was basically a "no attack zone" where a few folks who wanted to discuss some LDS history and issues could do so.
I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm sorry if that's how it came across.
Frankly, after this last fiasco with the "Faith Based Thread" instance, I'm a little numb. I'm kind of keeping my distance from the boards for a while.

Hi Liz, I'm sorry I brought more criticism on you. I was not completely aware of how bad things had gotten until I caught up on a couple of threads. I agree the board has been pretty rough lately and I think using Kevin's board is a good idea. Hopefully those who decide to join the conversations there will be respectful of what you are trying to achieve.

Please don't take the "Faith Based Thread" discussions personally; moderating in general should hopefully done from arm's length, without personal feelings and emotions associated (easier said than done, I'm sure). For me, the discussion was focused on the idea itself, not anybody who may have presented it or formulated it. If I came across differently, I apologize. Although I suppose the personal stake aspect may explain some of the rather strong and combative posts in response from some of the mods (some of whom have apologized).

Oh, good grief. So there's another private clique that I'm not part of?
Why am I not surprised?

Harm...you're already registered on Kevin's site.
;)
You will ALWAYS be part of my clique! You're my twin separated at birth. LOL

It may be time to start banning posters if they do not stop with the personal attacks. Unless a banning policy is in place on Kevin's board, the same will occur on that site too. The internet can be an abusive place with pent up anger spilling out. This anger can have many sources but it is not pleasant when the anger is spilled on one's head.
Also, what is to stop the angry people from not posting on Kevin's board?

It's a different board with different rules and different consequences.

Shades or Keene can also begin a crack down on abusive posters. This may save this board from slowly dying as competition increases for posters.

My main complaint about this board is when threads become infested with petty back-and-forth attacks between a couple of posters. The same old people. Many times I have put time into a post and seen it ignored while the same two people go back and forth with idiotic insults. I don't know what can solve this at the moderator level, except to restrict certain people. I wouldn't ask for that, though. I just ignore a thread when it gets past the first couple of pages because inevitably it's been swamped by then.
Liz, I think your moderating has been 'at arms length' so please carry on.
The "faith based" idea was silly, but don't take it personally. It's quirky. That's cool

Is it abusive for me to point out the fact that you are a jack Mormon?
