I mean WOW! Who could have predicted that?

As an added bonus, he was born and raised LDS in Utah county and now live in Sandy.

LDS Inc knows which side of the bread to butter... the white side.
Until the brown tithing becomes significant, they will never get representation in the 12 apostles.

Crap, while looking at that page, some page for a performance optimizer for my PC tried to hijack my browser. What the heck is wrong with Deseret News? That's messed up.

It's obvious that the most qualified candidates for prophets and apostles live in Utah.

Yes, this is shocking indeed. We definitely do not want the Church to start looking like the Democratic Party...

Where is it written that apostles must be representative of some ethnic group?

To people like Boaz and Lydia, Beastie, Harmony, Scratch et al, none of this is really pertinent as a matter of principle. When the Church starts calling rich Black lawyers to be Apostles, the secular leftist critics will call all of them tokens and lawn jockeys.

Its all in the game.

Does anyone have a link, or can find the link to the site where someone showed how incestuous the Mormon leadership is? I'd be interested to see, once again, just how many familial degrees separate the primary Mormon church leaders.

Anyway, it makes sense to promote a successful lawyer within the Mormon corporate culture. I think from a business point of view this makes sense. You're going to want to ensure you promote people who have the intelligence, know-how, and connections to protect and move your assets, grow your business, and create longevity. Promoting someone who isn't sophisticated or knowledgeable of 21st century banking, business, tax laws, and the myriad of other issues that always rise up to threaten your business just doesn't make sense. Considering the fact that they have to hire internally it's not surprising that the gentleman who is promoted is white and well-versed in law. It's not like a black guy who graduated from Brown is going to want to move to SLC and work, cheaply, for the Mormons.

Except it's not a business, it's a church.

I've always said it's amazing to me how many newly-called church leaders just happen live in the same neighborhood, know the same people, even share familial relationships. It's who you know. It's always been who you know.
