I just read it as per your link. The moderator told him that if he posted again on the thread, he'd be banned. He posted again.

I didn't understand why he was told to stay out of the thread in the first place.

I think they considered his remarks off topic to the OP.

Well, that's really one of the first times I've seen that. I've had sooo many off-topic remarks at that place. I'd say 90% of my posts were asking questions... la di daing about something or other... 'cause I was confused....

I think a big part of it is that they don't want people to argue with them. As a moderator here, I would want someone to challenge a decision that I'd made just incase I were in error.

Is he banned (as in permanently) or just suspended for a few days?

It says banned for his member status.

I've never seen anyone get banned before - they're on it over there. I saw the thread, was reading it, then clicked into LDS D&D and saw the thread had been posted in again, clicked back in and he'd been banned. Wow. They don't mess about.
